they’re building a bunch of cheap shite there though

That’s unfortunate but not surprising. I haven’t been back much since I sold my Clipper house.

Lots of subdivisions off military road are nice, such as crossgates, French branch, quail ridge, and a few others.

Also, like others have said, there aren’t many nicer places in the entire state than Oak Harbor, Lakeshore Estates, and Eden Isles.

Slidell was a nice city before Katrina, but a lot of shitty people moved to Slidell after Katrina.

Because after Katrina the West Bank moved to slidell

I thought it was Chalmette that did so

Can’t wait for next year’s 7-5A… Chalmette, Fontainebleau, Slidell, Salmen, Northshore…

Was a normal boring conservative town in the 80s. Sucks it got so bad.

My parents moved here in 1957. I am glad they aren't here to see what it has become. A solid, family-centered, community-oriented, blue collar town has been overrun with rednecks from the north and crackheads from the south. And us old hands are in the middle. Get off my lawn.

Among other things, I blame I-59 that gives easy access to people from Pearl River, etc. Sort of like Hammond with I-55. Mandeville and Covington were mostly populated by people moving north and very little pressure from the north while Slidell and Hammond had lots of folks moving south. Take any random exit on I-55 or I-59 and the folks look like your average Slidell or Hammond resident.

Very accurate for not only the north shore but also almost any areas.

The further you get away from the interstate, the nicer it gets. Idk what it is but interstates are magnets for trash.

I will never understand why people on here feel the need to exaggerate Slidell. There’s nothing worse in Slidell than anywhere else in Louisiana. It’s actually still a great town with good people and good food. I do miss the old Slidell pre-Katrina, but I still visit as often as I can.

Slidell is significantly shittier than mandeville, Covington, and mandeville

It’s just flat out ugly too

Slidell took on a lot from St Bernard and NO East post Katrina. It's been downhill since. Stennis and Michoud engineers on Northshore being replaced with drug addicts from those shitty places.

I lived in Slidell for about a decade - spanned Katrina. Don't get back that often so I can't comment on the Slidell of today.

Can say it was a great place to live 20 years ago and it seems like it gets a lot of overstated, negative horse-crap here.

Great place to grow up in the 70’s and early 80’s. Went to school with a lot of good folks.

Can’t comment on Slidell of today.
