Funny enough a couple of months ago I would have argued the DMV has the right to deny personalized plate applications for any reason. However, the United States District Court for the District of South Dakota ruled last month that it is unconstitutional to deny or recall personalized plates based on good taste or decency grounds. I do not know if it has been appealed to the 8th circuit yet.

Pathetic that the OMV immediately yanked the plate on someone’s complaint without checking for an explanation. Maybe it is a married couple’s initials. Do we really think that someone in today’s times memorialized lynching with a personalized plate that cleverly spelled it one letter off? But so typical of the white savior progressive to complain and get offended by something not pertaining to him and apparently had not offended the actual people it would be targeted to.
