No. They’re based on individual store sales. Read an expose on this when the pastor from Mars Hill in Seattle got outed. You pay a service that sends individual buyers into New York bookstores to buy your book. It appears on the best seller list for one week and then you add the tagline to your bio. “NYT bestseller”

I got Brittany's book from the library (there were two people in front of me waiting for it.)
It was really many pages of nothing. And a lot of ghost writers actions. When BS was in Mickey Mouse Club, she says she worried that the older men in the audience were looking at her as Lolita. What early teenaged girl would know who Lolita was about?
