Was talking to a college kicker who explained why they didn’t let him kick a 55 during the game (was a 50, penalty, pulled him off)…and he said it was toward the ‘open end’ of their stadium. That end is hardly open, but there’s a building in the middle and the ‘corners’ are open. I guess that’s home field advantage, the opposing kicker missed in that direction during the game.

Guessing pro teams have reports on each open field, which directions are good/bad. I bet Lumen field is a bitch toward the city, with the Sound right there.

Glad they don’t adjust distance stats for wind like they do in sprinting.

Wind wreaks havoc on the golf course on certain days.

If wind is blowing out in a baseball stadium that can have a huge impact.

Pretty unreal some of the landing zones at Augusta…how they judge that is mind boggling.

That sport would be boring without wind.

Like sailing...surfing doesn't really exist without wind

Track and field...the only two events not influenced by wind is the shotput and hammer throw. Discus, Javelin,Pole Vault, Jumping, and running events all have to take into account the wind. Pole Vaulting can be cancelled if the winds are too high.

Running events 200 and under…seems like it would cancel out in the 400/+.

Pick any sport that involves a frisbee/flying disc. Ultimate and disc golf strategy changes drastically whenever the breeze comes up. When it's blasting constantly at 15mph with gusts up to 40 pure hilarity ensues.

Nothing like watching a shot that typically goes 120 yards either go 100 or 140 because of the wind.

It can be maddening if you're playing in heavy wind. They actually do course handicap adjustments based on reported wind conditions now.

Wind and spin define most ball sports.

both normal golf and disc golf in the wind I imagine probably beat out fg kicking.

trying to throw a disc on the wrong day here in kansas is infuriating.

in theory yes but I noticed from a mental standpoint it tends to hurt more than it helps if that makes sense. I ran a 10k somewhere (cant rememeber where for the life of me now) on the track where the wind was awful. Head wind felt like I was being stood up, tail wind didnt really notice anything other than not having to fight to take a step forward. Im sure from a physics standpoint it all canceled out but from a mental standpoint I was dying.

Punts are strange with the roll, and do punters even a have a personal best where it’s only distance? (Comps are usually (distance + (10 x hangtime))

Told my son he better put an asterisk by his PB now after this weekend…he was making them from 70. Windy AF.

Seems like the answer is most outdoor sports.

If we're getting more obscure, probably Aussie Rules Football considering the entire game is based around kicking.
