Have to get a used vehicle for my son during his mid-term Christmas break

He's starting an internship job in January for his last semester of college and will need a reliable first car that hopefully doesn't cost an arm and a leg which I know is the proverbial needle in a haystack at this point. Any recommendations appreciated and willing to travel far and wide for a good deal. Have personally preferred Toyotas in the past, but am currently leaning toward possible Hyundai and Kia values these days.

Honda fit. Cheap, reliable, ugly, and gets fantastic gas mileage (40+mpg)

a Honda Ridgeline should keep him free on nights and weekends and dedicated to his job and studies.

used Honda or Toyota sedan, under 100k you can find some decent deals. Those sedans die hard.

KIA's are getting stolen like crazy lately. Not sure I'd recommend getting an older model KIA

Tis' the time when dealers will negotiate. Market is softening too. Finance still sucks on used, but better opportunities this month.

Buy a good steering wheel lock if you go this route

You’ll get what you pay for with a used car. I’d spend a little more and get him a new Civic or Corolla. Co-sign for him and let him build his credit.

Stay away from cheap Hyundai and Kias right now, there simply are not any motors available to fix cars with bad motors... and they have a motor problem... There is a reason they have gotten so cheap.
