My recommendation from personal experience is to avoid Nissans & their CVT transmissions.

Poors don't need to worry about what OT ballers have. Just be happy in your 2003 Chevy Silverado extended cab, it's the best you're going to do.

OT ballers don't "want" they "do." OT ballers don't ask others to "show" them stuff, OT ballers make it happen. You're not on a good path. First step to being an OT baller is not relying on anyone else.

Consider a used Mazda. Depending on the year and model, you can find ones made in Japan, which in my opinion have superior build quality. And Mazda’s reliability is second only to Toyota’s but their resale isn’t as strong, so you get a better used value. Have him check out the Mazda3 sedan/hatch and CX-3/CX-5 crossovers.

Get him the newest/low miles Camry you can afford

You can easily get a 2010 Camry with 100-125K in the $8k range and it will last as long as you need it to

Got my son an F150 several years ago and saved a ton of money opening up my radius to Dallas and Houston. Found exactly what we wanted in Dallas so I jumped on a one-way flight and drove it home. Will buy all cars exactly like that every time.
