This is not the compelling argument that is used to be. The gap between the SEC and everyone else has been getting smaller, and it’s not about to let up.

But doesnt the committee or BCS do that every year? Isn't Liberty undefeated? I don't see anyone up in arms that committee told them they aren't good enough to compete for a NC and they DIDN'T lose their QB to injury.
The difference is that FSU is in the Power 5. Liberty is not.

The gap between the SEC and other conferences isn’t as big as it once was. FSU beat arguably the 3rd best SEC team by 3 TDs, who happened to be a common opponent with Bama. I think most would agree that FSU played better against LSU than Bama did.

On top of that, the post season record of the SEC hasn’t been stellar. The talent that the SEC used to be able to hoard is spreading out thanks to the NIL and transfer portal. Then look at who’s coaching. There might be 4 really solid coaches at best in the SEC. You don’t have the juggernauts like we used to. A lot of coaches are trying their chances else where. We just aren’t the king we used to be, which in the grand scheme of things is probably better overall for the sport for collective whole.

20Y ago in the non playoff era? Apples to oranges
Anyway the point is now moot since we're moving to a 12T playoff. But I'd still expect a 2 loss SEC runner up/3rd place team to get the benefit of the doubt moving fwd when it comes to seeding. And thats something as LSU fans we should be celebrating.

I mean why wouldn’t he say that. He would want LSU to get the benefit of the doubt also if it’s between them and an ACC school as well.

Unless LSU is the SEC Champ my dream was to see a playoff without the SEC

You and the committee are just arbitrarily deciding they aren't as good as P5 schools based on eye test.
I agree that they shouldn't be in the playoff but to say that its ok to use that logic with Liberty but not with a P5 school is dumb.

The process is stupid, but the committee voted correctly based on their own rules. Jordan Travis being out changes the team.
Not when it comes to wins and losses.

With that said, the subjective method of selecting teams is completely stupid. The playoff expansion can’t come fast enough.
I don’t know why anyone thinks this will be an improvement. If there are 12 spots, and every team that gets in has a chance at the title, all 12 selected are equal outside of the road to the championship game. With 4 teams, only so many can go undefeated and/or win conf championships, which makes it much easier to just say “if you want to get in then play better”. That is, there will be more opportunities for teams with similar records to be brought in and/or left out.
This year for instance would have left out LSU on paper. But, with the Heisman winner on the roster, that wouldn’t actually happen. It would be a completey subjective call. They most likely would be squeezing out a 2 loss team. Sure they could justify it with “strength of schedule” but there would be another motive for doing so.
If you think the subjectivity is stupid now, it will be more stupid with more teams.

Both are conf champs, SEC>ACC, FSU QB hurt, Milroe improving, Bama beat UGA, FSU beat nobody, Bama has decent odds to win the NC = they got it right Bama is the better pick. Without Travis, FSU may not even be a top 15 team. LSU could probably beat them if we played today.

It’s also not a compelling argument when the teams that have an argument to get it outside the SEC beat SEC teams.
All this “committee got it right” talk is almost entirely self serving.
They have created an arbitrary reason to leave a team out. The guideline is “availability of players and coaches”, it’s not star QB and it’s not “ACC sucks”
I don’t really care if it may benefit LSU in the future to maybe get some SEC bias. I want LSU and other teams to continue to try and win as many games as possible
The only control a team has is winning their games. FSU did that with and without their QB. They won a championship 10 years ago, they have made the playoff in the past, their conference has won since then, and even Notre Dame (a quasi member) has made it several times.
This is bad for college football and if you can see it you are very short sighted.

They just beat a team in the top 15 without him by 10 pts.
LSU could probably beat any team we played today. But we didn’t win enough games to earn the chance to try.

But did they? If they really voted based on the 4 "best" teams, no way you leave out georgia AND rank them BEHIND FSU. That was a nod to FSU that hey we know we fricked you but we still respect what you did in the regular season so we'll put you ahead of a one loss, 2 time defending champion but not a 1 loss bama.

Poor BK hasn't learned that:
A) You aren't at Notre Dame. LSU isn't a Tier 1 media darling
B) The SEC will frick him over every chance they get, as well as the CFB Committee.

Bama won every game in the SEC, why would he be against Bama not making the F4?
It's Texas that should be out not FSU.
Yes you can, Texas has the weakest "loss" of the three teams vying for two spots.
FSU (Zero)
Alabama (Loss Top-5 Team/ZERO conference losses)
Texas (Loss to Top 15 Team/ONE conference loss)

The gap between Bama and UGA and everyone else is still legit though.

Has zero to do with how good Bama and UGA are. LSU and Ole Miss were nothing to sneeze at this season, too.
