I wouldn't be very confident today. But there was a time in the late 80's I would have nailed it every time. Once you could figure out how to land a plan in this situation (see below) bringing one down in a big arse airport would have been a piece of cake.

I just assume the big planes have all kinds of "autocorrect" stabilizers/levelers whatever they are.

The small plane you've got to do it perfectly with the steering wheel.

I remember seeing a show or video on this incident. The guy chartered a KingAir and was being flown home with his family from his brother’s funeral when the pilot died.

I guess the family lived in NELA because they were flying back to Monroe.

I can give control instructions, but I don't know dick about flying an aircraft. I am sure with the help a pilot of that airframe over the radio and no adverse conditions some with slightly above average IQ could land ,but just with the help of ATC and no experience not a chance.

I take one look at that and I hear engine noise and an explosion.

I think I could with assistance from Air Traffic Control. I wouldn’t want to ever have to try that shite though. I don’t even like flying.

I'm waiting for the pilots of the OT to chime in. I've listened to ATC recordings of them talking panicked students flying solo through a landing. Could a flight instructor get on the radio and talk you through the steps? Last time this thread got posted, I agreed with the response "I don't know if I could do it, but I'm damn sure not sitting in the back of the plane wondering if someone dumber than me is trying."

You know how many times I crashed and burned on that game? Enough times, to where I quit playing it.

I’d 100% be able to get us all the way to the scene of the crash.

I think a better survey would be the percentage of air traffic guidance professionals that believe they could talk someone without flight experience through a safe landing. I assume I’m competent enough to follow the instructions of the professional to get the plane on the ground, but I really don’t have a frame of reference that allows me to know one way or the other if my assumption is reasonable.

I think I’d be able to keep it it the air long enough for everyone to shite their pants while I tried to figure out what to do. Then I’d forget about putting the wheels down on landing, maybe land it, survive with no survivors because everyone died of heart attacks

You can go to a regional airport and learn how to fly and land a small plane in a relatively short period of time so I would think I could handle landing one of those

I don't think there's anyway I could land a large jet without some kind of training or practice because that would be a very stressful situation

I wonder if they would even coach you to get to airport or next think you know you are over a field and get shot down
