There a store in Caldwell Parish called Knife Works. They have just about everything you could want and do a huge internet sales volume.

I'm old and don't know how to link a website, but check it out

I have several Spydercos and Benchmades. You can’t go wrong with either brand.

Can vouch for the Puma as a great knife.

But for general utility, I find a Swiss Army knife is hard to beat.

I buy a Benchmade or two a year. Some I give away over time, etc. I just like them and have always had good CS experience when I've run into issues. I'm probably one of the people who justifies their email list as I'll just buy one for no real reason after a promo goes out. They all get used or handed off to someone who will.

They've gotten more expensive and I don't think they're genuinely worth the money anymore, but they're familiar and reliable so I keep going back. Also have some Spyderco, Emerson, ZT, al Mar, etc. but usually I've got a BM.

Benchmade. A lot of their knives are quite expensive, however they do make some affordable knives.

IMO i think the benchmade bugout is too light. I want to be able to feel the knife in my hand. I have the mini griptillian, i believe goes for $130 now- which is nuts- i bought mine 3 years ago for 100.

The kershaw leek is another good one to look at, especially for the price point.

I gave my dad several Randalls over they years, but they are not folding.

He is gone now but I have them to remember him by.

Nice knives, made in Florida.

This reminded me that I’m on the O-T with dem ballers spending $200 on a pocket knife.

It isn't a Marfione Nemisis, a Microtech Borlka Stitch or a Microtech Combat Troodon.

Those are expensive knives

Take pops fishing and tell him what a great dad he’s been (my assumption), he can’t buy that time with you, and he can buy everything else.

How important is it where its made?

I have about 25 folders.

What do you see him using it for? Everyday carry? Outdoors knife? Is he a fidgeting? I have several knives that are fidget friendly.

I'd be careful if thinking of an assisted opening knife unless carried in a sheath.

Really good bang for the buck is a Puma SGB Whitetail Featherweight. German steel with Rockwell dot, but assembled in Asia. Have had it 4 months and has been great. Picked up for 50 bucks. Does not say China or whatever on it. Just a great great knife

Leatherman Free P4

i carry this everyday, i don't work in an office. i use every tool on it at least once a week. i use the pliers several times a day. it has a pocket clip, fits in your jeans change pocket like a regular pocket knife, but has all the tools you need for 98% of everyday tasks.

once you carry a P4 you'll never go back to regular pocket knife if you're working with your hands.
