CBS Sports delivers the most-watched Conference Championship Game on any network in five years. Alabama’s win over Georgia in the SEC Championship averaged 17.519 million viewers, +61% vs. last year’s game, and peaked with 22.350 million viewers.

Yeah, but true fans of collegiate athletics (like me) weren’t watching and won’t watch anymore.

It will be interesting to see if the playoffs naturally get better ratings each round or there are some hiccups. I feel like people are already tired by the time of the championship game after all the buzz for the semis. Conference championship games, plus four rounds of playoffs seems like a bit much.

All of the little cucks on this site constantly whining about the product they flatout refuse to stop dumping money into.
Why would the product ever change? College and pro sports have them by balls.

A big part of this is because the population and economy always grow.
I guarantee that more people ate a McDonald's meal this year than 5, 10...20 years ago. That doesn't mean that McDonald's improved their menu and sourced better ingredients or started hiring professional chefs. It just means there's more busy, hungry people with a 20 dollar bill in their wallet.

Playoffs? Are you talking about Playoffs?
How does any fan get through the bowl season with their IQ still in tack? We are about to be bombarded with countless small college football games at all kinds of odd hours of the day. Then we get the 6-win power 5 onslaught that makes you long for the Playoffs. By the time we actually get to some decent teams playing bowl games in the NY6, we have the 4 team Playoffs to keep us busy.
The 12-team Playoff is about to be the greatest show on turf. Mark it down.

The playoff TV ratings are going to be something to behold.

So not even the most watched college game of this year.
Thats 1.5 million less viewers that watched Michigan vs Ohio State

There will be megainterest at the start jsut bc it's new, but let's be real. How many people want to tune in to see some scrub 12th ranked team with 3 losses be cannon fodder for an alabama or ohio state?
I'm not saying all 1st round games are going to look like uga/tcu but I mean I would be a bit surprised if more of them are super close than aren't.

CBS was off the air on DirecTV in the Houston viewing area.
Not sure why the downvotes. CBS was off air on one of the major tv providers in some 15 US markets.
Not saying this accounts for the entire disparity, but it could certainly put a dent in the number.
