Caesar was such a terrible Tyrant. nobody ever mentions that he and Pompey were co-Consuls and passed a lot of reforms that benefited the citizens of Rome at the cost of the political and social optimate's wealth.

The way they saw it, Caesar being declared “protector of Rome” with no expected time to relinquish it meant they thought he wasn’t planning to do so.
