Why play the season if the committee has a built in excuse to put whatever teams they want to in the playoffs regardless of what happens on the field? I could argue that Michigan, OSU, Georgia, and Alabama have been “the 4 best teams” every year the last 3 years. But the games on the field are still supposed to matter. The committee told us today they don’t

You want the four best teams then ask the oddsmakers at the biggest sportsbooks in Vegas. And if that’s your hill to die on, then why haven’t you said anything about Georgia. They would be favorites over at least three of the four teams.

“What constitutes a playoff by definition?”

You have to qualify for a playoff and since the CFP has a subjective (fake) criteria it’s an invitational tourney not a playoff. It’s just called a playoff to dupe fans.

It could be. E.G. That kid stole my bike.

But it doesn’t have to be. E.G. FSU would be in had Travis Daniels not been hurt.

If Travis doesn’t get hurt they beat the shite out of Louisville and would be number 4

2014 Ohio State getting in destroys any argument for the committee’s decision this season with FSU.

No it doesn’t. You idiots maintain a willful ignorance of the one and only criterium. It is the four best teams in the opinion of the voters. That’s it. Nothing else. Bama could go 0-12 because they were forced to play with a deflated football, and the committee could vote them in. All that would be required is that the committee thought they were one of the best four teams.

And changing your standards based on bias isn’t a legitimate system.

Truth. They acted on what they ALWAYS said was the most important factor… the best teams RIGHT NOW. Outrage culture will find something new to be outraged about tomorrow.

The injury should keep them out.

No it doesn't. Cardale Jones started against Wisconsin in Big 10 Championship game and smoked them 59-0. It was clear that OSU's offense didn't miss a beat with Jones at QB.

FSU's offense has had 2 weeks to show life without Travis, and failed to do so. They didn't get dropped because of it. They tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. Honestly, even if Georgia had won, I think it would have been:

1) Georgia
2) Michigan
3) Washington
4) Texas
5) Florida State

They would have still been left out because the Travis injury has impacted them that much. Even those 4, if they were the conference champions, would be better than FSU.

They’re 2-0 without Travis and are undefeated. That Ohio State team had a loss to an unranked team and got in over 2 other P5 teams with the same record, one of them only losing to another top 5 team.

Then why didn’t they drop FSU last week after seeing them without Travis?

So

If the Michigan QB breaks his leg tomorrow, Michigan should be out of the playoffs?

What about a star running back or linebacker?

Leaving a team (especially an undefeated one) out just because you think they can't win is simply wrong.

No it isn’t. Every single year the 4 best teams have NOT made the playoffs. Including this year when Georgia was left out.
