At this point, there is absolutely no excuse for Nicholson to not be 5 lanes from the parish line to campus. It’s been almost 20 years since Bluebonnet connected to Nicholson, which triggered the increased development of Lexington and U-Club.
Another failure by local leadership. This problem didn’t start just a few years ago, but excuses and incompetence prevail.

As big as U-Club is, this really only helps the ones in the back half on a daily basis. I guess when 30 gets its bi-weekly wreck, it’ll help everyone exit the neighborhood.

I believe this has been approved and is part of the green light project. This particular stretch is just way further down the list as other segments of the GLP are higher in order of priority.
Would really like yo know more about the cause of last nights wreck. Maybe the cause is driver distraction or driver impairment. Sometimes you just can’t stop idiots from being reckless and endangering the lives of others.

You mean the same Greenlight Project from the Kip Holden days? For shits sake, I guess they’ll check one of the list at time and follow the plan from 15 years ago
And you’re correct, the city can’t solve individual stupidity by drivers. But by solving the traffic and safety issues of a 2 lane road, you can also help alleviate some of the human error.

People have great ideas, but no funding. That's a lot of money.
People should just put their GD phones down and pay attention.

I live near this corridor, and this is by far the biggest issue!!! Assholes doing 35MPH and people pulling out from neighborhoods. They can't four lane this soon enough!

Same.
People leaving neighborhoods barely even make a rolling stop. The cop at U club just sits there and watches this every weekday am.
Yes it sucks your neighborhood developer built so many houses with one exit onto a busy two lane highway but no need to endanger yourself or others. Wait a minute or two for break in traffic.
Also, a bit further down Hwy 30 St Gabriel cops would rather sit on shoulders near red lights looking for inspection stickers while cars line up sometimes a half mile to mile at poorly synced red lights. How you you do the SERVE part of your duty and grab the light clicker and help traffic flow in the afternoons!

In Kip’s Greenlight Plan voters decided to widen Nicholson from LSU to W Lee/Brightside. Broome has not pushed this along and even though the plan passed in 2005 nothing had been done on this phase of the plan.
Voters passed Broome’s MovEBR plan in 2018. In this plan Nicholson was to be widened from W Lee/Brightside to the parish line. Again, nothing has been done.
It’s been 18 years and two elections; but all we have are maps indicating what might be coming. But really why does this surprise anyone, we have elections in this parish and the outcome doesn’t matter. The politicians and city hall crowd do what they want.
We also have a huge problem in planning and zoning. Developers are allowed to build subdivisions with hundreds of lots and only one exit to a primary artery. There are few developments with a grid pattern which allow residents various methods of egress. The code should make developers plan for entrance/exits depending on the numbers of lots and they should make them provide fir proper turning lanes and lighting at these entrances and exits.

Would a city have control over planning and zoning to push road improvement on these primary roads before new development that parish doesn’t push?

I’ve personally been in two wrecks caused by Hispanic non English speaking drivers who don’t understand what a blinking yellow arrow means. Aside from that, they were also too stupid to see a full size truck coming through the intersection. I mean even if I didn’t have a green light, simple physics says you can’t pull out in front of me like that.
It’s mind numbing how stupid so many people are. Just nothing happening in their heads.

I didn’t say we aren’t spending money. I am saying nothing is getting done.
And are you still studying Nicholson from LSU to Lee? We voted for that project 18 years ago.
The sad thing is the consultants, marketeers, and engineers get plenty, the voters meanwhile wait and wait for real progress.
