Rather than buy him out for 1.8 million and get nothing we’d be better off keeping him on staff and bringing in another Co-DC

Bc his lb coaching has been almost as bad as his coordinating?

Why would we do that? He sucks as a DC and the LB’s were horrible. Why would a talented DC want to come in and share the job?

Linebackers were clueless this year. Weeks/Perkins made up for it with athleticism. Speights/Penn are slow and having them stand and react was about as stupid a thing you could do.

Hell no, you want the guy who was playing Speights keep coaching that position?

When you have a cancer you remove it entirely. You wouldn't excise part of it and pray it doesn't metastasize.

The more days that go back make me think that house isn’t going anywhere, regardless of Kelly’s statement about taking some time for evaluations

No way. Our LB’s played like crap this year. Now to be fair Speights was the worst by far and his limitations were partly physical ability but why not start Weeks earlier in the season? I assume House makes the personnel decisions on defense as well scheme.

I'm guessing you weren't a fan during the 2008 Co-DC disaster. It was the worst LSU defense of this century, prior to this season of course.

I was unaware that House had a multi year contract, with a buy out.
Can somebody confirm?
However, it it cost us 1.8 mil it would be worth it, b/c his defense really spoiled chances for elite team performance.

If we are keeping House, I would rather keep House as DC only, and go bring in Baker as co-DC/LB coach and pay him!

Not really. That defense was terrible, but mainly because it was compare to the top 5-10 defenses we’d been fielding since ‘03. We actually finished #56 in total defense that year. Bad, but nowhere near 2020 or 2023 bad.

And I’m not sure it was the “Co-DC” concept as much as it was the guys we had as Co DCs. I’m no fan of Co-coordinators, but it can work with the right people. But I don’t think demoting a guy and bringing another one in is a good idea at all. Can really only end in disaster. And you can only have so many coaches on staff anyway.

I was just about to post this.

Did OP just not watch a single game this season? Our LB play was horrible from scheme to personnel decisions. It was a train wreck from the first play.

His defense probably cost us $1.8 million anyway, so let's just pay the man and move on.

Also, if you are a stud HS LB, do you want to play for a position coach that put the product we saw this year on the field? A middle school kid could tell what we were doing wasn't working, yet he continued to do the same stupid shite game after game.

TOTAL DEFENSE rankings:

2022-2023 ranked 46th giving up 361 yards per game and 24 points per game.

2023-2024 ranked 104th giving up 409 yards per game and 28 points per game.

The final rankings out of 130 teams: 116th in 3rd down defense, 114th in red zone defense, 101st in turnovers forced, 71st in tackles for loss, 92nd in opponent passer efficiency, 89th in run defense, and 101st in yards allowed per game. Why is he still here. This is not even close to LSU standards. Make the change CBK.

Rest my Fn case.

Malleveto wasnt great but light years better than House. So I can see the allure to Co DCs. But LSU can do better. Recruits want to come to LSU but with House in charge and a number of very talented players dont see the field much or out of position its not a good feeling you'll be developed.
