My buddy, in Baton Rouge, is looking for a Mossberg 510 MINI SUPER BANTAM – ALL-PURPOSE in 20 gauge. It’ll be a Xmas gift to his son. Anyone know of any deals, either new or used? I think Academy has the best deal from what I see online, but I figured I might as well ask here.

My friend is kind of fat and his son can already beat him up.

I'm seeing like $550 on academy for the 50497 model in your picture. This LINK may save your buddy some money.

Either your friend posts here and this is a dig at him or this is really weird info to convey.

I think he's trying to say the guy isn't man enough to handle a 12ga yet. Maybe. But either way, it's information.

Bought a Mossberg 500 bantam 20 gauge for my 8 year old.

First thing I noticed was the extreme wobble in the forearm/pump handle.

I know Mossberg's are known for a "rattle" but this thing wobbles side to side like a damn penguin.

This was my son’s first shotgun also. Good gun, but be aware that the recoil is pretty severe. But I guess if the kid can beat up his fat dad, that may not be a concern for him. lol.

Another thing to consider is the tang safety. When he was 5 or 6, the gun, as small as it is, was really still too big for him. He was trying to water swat a teal one morning and the safety cut up his cheek pretty good.

To be honest, even though I owe a 12 gauge I can kill just as many ducks with a 20 as I can a 12.

I have a 28 that has the worst recoil out of any of the ones I own

Even worse than my crappy maverick 88s

If fat guys couldn't shoot 12 gauges LA would have a lot of empty hunting blinds.

Kid should be shooting a 12 gauge if he can whip his dad already. New benelli when he takes pops wallet from him.

I have been contemplating a 28g auto for my boy, he will be 7 next year. I broke out in a youth 870 20g but I think it will be sometime before he can handle that.
