Would a revamped WKRP work?

It’s still my favorite show from the late 70’s/early 80’s.
I just saw a commercial for “Night Court” (another one of my favorites from the mid-80’s). I tried to watch one episode and just didn’t get the same feeling.
Could they do a new “WKRP in Cincinnati” without messing it up? It would still be set in the 70’s, same characters, same personalities. I know the Woke people would throw a fit because of the hot blond receptionist.

No.
Mainly because terrestrial radio is pretty much dead to anyone under 35. No point of reference or context.
Anyone 50 or older.would just compare it to the original.

Dropping references that wouldn't land but to belittle the past...like that time travel movie recently where every joke was a woke perspective knocking the 80s. No thanks.

I am not sure I ever watched WKRP, maybe on Nickelodeon Nick at Nite returns. I've seen the turkey drop eps and possibly more but nothing that I can really remember. But, isn't it basically just a work place sitcom? Is it really any different than Newsradio (obvious comparison with the radio part) or even The Office?

Not without at least some changes.
Venus Flytrap hasn’t aged well.
Herb the sleazy salesman has become too much of a stereotype, etc.
But a number of the characters, especially ones like Bailey and Dr Johnny Fever, are still usable today.

As long as the show’s epic opening and closing themes are left as is, anything is possible.

They did a sort of revamped show with Carlson, Herb, Les, and a bunch of new characters in the early 90s. New WKRP

Doesn't work with Harry, Christine, Bull, and Mac gone.
They tried their best by having the judge be Harry's daughter and bringing back Dan Fielding. There were just too few pieces to pull it off.

It would have to be a local or cable channel since so few under 35 listen to radio. Maybe podcast?

This is why a current day wkrp could work… original show was about a struggling radio station trying to stay afloat. Probably a common occurrence in the radio industry these days for any independent channel.

Unlikely. The original was about as perfectly cast as one could get. The writing was from authentic experience in the industry. The only thing that holds the show back is that, in syndication, it did not have all of the original music due to licensing issues. It still doesn't, although recent packages are much better in that regard.
The tone, writing, direction, acting, production were just all nearly perfect and there is less than 0.1% chance that a reboot wouldn't be an insult to the original, much less equal/exceed it.

Agreed. This was a good example of a show catching lightning in a bottle at the right time.

Radio stations are now automated. Sales people work from home. The cast would include Mr. Carlson and an IT/engineer character.

Radio isn't really a thing nowadays so I don't think it would find an audience.

...and the lead modern girl was too cool for school who talked down to everyone in the past from some assumed moral high ground..and everyone in the 80s was a clueless dope who just smoked cigs and were goofy, unintentional racists and unenlightened Neanderthals.
The movie took the position that everything happening now is the way it ought to be.
