I was there it was a light crowd because it rained hard that night in Tiger Stadium and there always were more LSU fans than LSU.

LSU and Tulane used to play in a summer softball tournament in near by Reserve next to Riverside Academy A.J. Duhe and I (think)Roch Hontas started that. The teams were made up of football and baseball players from both schools. Lots of softballs ended up in a canal just outside the park fence.

Wish I would have been around for the for that event.

My Tulane friend said this morning that we should bring back the rivalry. Obviously this won't happen for many reasons, but mainly because it would only benefit Tulane.

When the SEC goes to a 9 game conference schedule, which they will because of ESPN and TV money, it doesn't leave much room for non-conference scheduling. We already play a neutral site opener against a Top 25 team which eliminates a home game and with an extra SEC game, that will eliminate another home game every other season.

I have mixed feelings about adding an extra conference game. It sucks having to play Georgia State second to last game, but I don't know if we will see a USC and UCLA in the same season like we will next year if they add the 9th game.

Yes, I had friends in Garyville. The wheelbarrow parades were a cool thing. I had friends who were pushed and those friends who rode. Most were smashed as well. Fun times.

I remember them.Never went to see them. Didn’t know we had to cover the spread.

Same thing in Uptown NOLA. Norby's bar on Laurel St. Winners were pushed for 3/4 of the block, loser got the last 1/4 block. Food and drinks abounding, and a GOOD time had by all.

I think it was GRO. Played many games of racquetball and pickup basketball in that gym. I played baseball in both Gonzales and Garyville the last few years before high school

There used to have the wheelbarrow parades in Slidell also. When I was a teenager I had to help my Dad push my uncle around in the wheelbarrow. My uncle had been a lineman for Tulane. Thank the Lord in heaven above that every other year it was my uncle doing the pushing!!

My cousin lived off of Magazine back in the 90’s near Norby’s bar. Bunch of old Tulane and LSU fans would do the same. The loser had to wheelbarrow the winners around and keep their beer mugs filled after the game. Great times.
