People really fantasize about Aranda just because he was attached to the ‘19 squad.

Do you guys all forget that we didn’t exactly have a lockdown defense under him?

Is he better than House? Sure. But so is my 11 year old niece.

You mean besides the performance of the unit he put on the field? He hadn’t coached in D1 football in a long time. His last few seasons at Youngstown were less than stellar. He wasn’t able to connect with the players and his coaching style just doesn’t work. You can’t rip a guys head off and not follow it up with good coaching. Even Saban follows up his arse chewings with good and thoughtful teaching.

Muschamp is not Pelini and not semi retired. Could he and CBK make it work? Dunno, but he's no fricking retread.

, how about we instead go out and get the 2023 version of 2016 Dave Aranda.

There are two sides to this: 1) the 2023 version would likely be prone to leave after a few seasons and we're back to square one. That's not all bad. CBK would then have to find the 2027 version of the 2023 Aranda2016 version.

2) If Aranda's heart is in it, we might well have one of the better defensive minds on staff long term.

FTR1, as a fan I'd be ok with Boom but also think there are better options out there.

FTR2, the way House used #40 last year seemed to me to be a key piece of the puzzle to defending DT QBs. And then '23 happened. I really don't know what to make of House. Guy could be it and we'd never know because of the lack of talent, effort, and fundamentals.

For every fan talking about "retread" and so forth, Muschamp would be a big improvement over House. I'm not sure some of our fans think we're going to get. Unless it's really a lack of talent, as some think, not as many DC's are going to be willing to take over a defense where the previous coach was fired after 2 seasons.

There's a reason WM is co-defensive coordinator at UGA, obviously Smart feels he's good enough to be in that position. LSU and BK would be CRAZY not to accept him.....if they could get him. Honestly, why would he leave UGA and what they're building to come to LSU? They have a "culture" of defense that LSU hasn't had in some time.

UGA is fundamentally sound and play fast and aggressive. Saban took him at the Dolphins and Kirby has elevated him to Co-DC at UGA, WM has been at DC at several schools, unlike House. House has been in so many roles that I'm starting to think he's just part of the right clique because his "coaching" leaves a lot desired.

Champ hasn’t been a full-time DC in years. Rather someone younger with that focus.

Don’t like it. Sure it probably wouldn’t be the worst hire but enough of the SEC retreads.

Hell yeah we should take Muschamp. Dude know football here.
Only problem would be people know his style so well.

Mushchamp is exactly a retread. He is very involved in the Ga. defense.

Wouldnt mind seeing an attacking aggressive defense again. Probably hard to duplicate the success with the way offenses are now a days but it would be a welcome change to zone zone zone, getting gashed and pushed around while never forcing opponents into mistakes

Ideally I’d want to see a younger, hungry coach that isn’t afraid to bust arse on the recruiting trail. I’m not sure who that might be, but I’m sure this guy is out there.

Plus I'm not in love with the idea of him coming in and unending the entire front 7 depth chart again just so he can get players that can do specifically what he wants them to do.
Aranda took what we had in 2016 and turned them into a top 5 defense in the country. We were #2 in the country in SP+ ratings.

LSU was 26th, 14th, 32nd, and 20th in sacks in the 4 years Aranda was here. We were 5th, 14th, 26th, and 31st in scoring defense while he was here. The last season he was trying to adapt to our ridiculous offense, and once he did, he stonewalled teams. Held Trevor Lawrence Clemson to 25, Jalen Hurts Oklahoma to 28, 8 win TAMU to 7, and SEC East champ 12 win UGA to 10.

Getting Aranda at DC with Bo Davis at DL and Chevis Jackson at DB would make LSU championship caliber immediately. I just don't think Aranda will be fired yet though.
