Dolly’s new album Rockstar

My wife is a huge Dolly fan so I bought it for her. She started listening to it tonight and I’m not sorry. This thing is amazing. It’s like she took all my favorite rock songs from the 70s, 80s, and 90s and put her own spin on them. Plus many of them are duets with the original artists.
I swear, when it comes to combining music and marketing, she is undoubtedly one of the GOATs

I checked the first half of it out. It’s not bad. I don’t think I’ll listen to it again. The cover songs are pretty good. The originals not so much.

I do appreciate Dolly and agree, on so many levels she is truly a legend and overall incredible human.
That being said, and I may be in the vast minority here, but I feel like this is 'Dolly does Karaoke' album and I am not a big fan of it.
I don't hate it and I don't hate dolly, but I would 'skip to next' on my playlist if one of these songs came on.

Played Magic Man for my ten year old because she likes Heart. She just started laughing and said it was horrible. It is pretty bad. Some of the other covers are pretty good though especially Every Breath You Take

I think I’d need to be in a “I’m drunk, let’s karaoke mood’ to listen to the album again.
And honestly, I was only able to get through abt half of each song before I hit ‘next’
And I really do love Dolly- when she’s singing her songs. Just not a fan of the crossover genre style she’s done here.

When I first heard about this project a few months back, I figured it had disaster written all over it. Thanks for the confirmation.

Again, I’m sure that I am in the minority here, but I’m totally ok with you not liking Dolly. She’s not everyone’s cup of tea.
And her rock album isn’t mine either. Although I do like her country music.

I’m sure the music is top-notch, but Dolly’s voice just doesn’t do it for me.
