AppleTV’s Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Eps 1 & 2 have dropped. (no spoilers)

Just watched Ep 1. Clever. Well done. Opens up lots of questions, but so far, laying the groundwork nicely.
Some minor issues, but nothing that can't be overlooked.
And yes, from what I've seen, I'm going to disagree from my YouTube overlords like Chris Gore.
He said it was 'too human centric' and lacked monsters. Of course it is, duh! But I'm digging it. This was never billed as a Godzilla documentary. Least, none of the press I read on it.
It's about the people of Monarch. And obviously, Monarch's work is on the Titans. So yeah, expect a reasonable amount of the story telling to be about humans.

I called this shite in another thread. It may be a good show, but why name it “Legacy of Monsters” if it’s going to be mostly about humans?
This is obviously a dumb/sarcastic question, but is it because they can’t race and gender swap the monsters so they have to add the humans in for diversity?

It’s about the agency which studies and tracks these monsters primarily.

You know damn well they put the word “monsters” in there to draw people in. If they would have called it “Monarch: Legacy of Humans” no one would see it.
With all of that being said, the show does look ok from the trailers. I just get hesitant about a movie/show with the term monster in the title yet the trailer is most human centric.

That was called “Men” in Black and so it heavily focused human interactions that just so happened to have aliens in it.
Reverse this for Legacy of MONSTERS. It should have a heavy focus on MONSTERS and then just so happen to have humans in it.

I feel like you’re trolling me. Which is OK, because it’s funny. But if serious, yes. You are crazy. As I have already stated, the title is Monarch,…. and the first episode alone has no fewer than four separate scenes with monsters. Plus, a very obvious reference to Godzilla, and oh yes, a trip back to Skull Island. I could go further, but I think the point is made.

Yea, I was pretty much using you as a benchmark to whether or not I’d give this show a shot.
From a lot of your post history, I think we would agree on most things from an entertainment standpoint and all that comes along with that in the culture war as well.

I’m enjoying it so far. Yes it’s human centric but did anyone really expect this to have a budget large enough for CGI monsters to fill every episode?
The time jumps annoy me some, but overall it’s been pretty good for the first 2 episodes.
I hope that we do get to see some classic monsters, even if briefly, like Anguirus, Megalon, Gigan, throughout the course of the show(not expecting them in season 1 since this is set between Godzilla 2014 and KOTM).
Favorite part so far has been how they have explored life post Godzilla and the PTSD following a Godzilla attack.
The time jumps annoy me some, but overall it’s been pretty good for the first 2 episodes.
