I don’t know what people expect. Nobody walks into a total rebuild and wins their division in the first or second year. shite if you can win 9-10 games in your first couple of years you’re a damn miracle worker.

He might not make it to 2025... and if he does, their schedule is brutal.
Sunbelt Billy should've jumped to a smaller SEC school like Moo St. or Vandy before trying to bite off UF.

The schedule is very difficult. I am not going to start worrying about 2024 until 2024. At the same time we play more freshmen than anyone in power 5 and only have a couple seniors on on our 2 deep. Most of the teams we are playing are losing a ton of talent. We need to see who is coming and leaving in the portal.
Billy's biggest issue is some terrible game day decision making. The end of the Arkansas game was inexplicable, and that was one of many special teams/game management blunders made over the last 2 years.
The 2nd biggest issue is how he recruits the portal, which requires a ton of evaluation and by the time we are making an offer the player's usually have made a decision.
If those 2 things went better, he would have a lot more rope despite the record the last 2 years.

I think it usually takes 4-5 years for a rebuild. If yall give him time you’ll be glad

He is one that before all of this I was impressed with. In interviews he sounded very Saban like. Said all the rights thing about have a process. Came across as being really intelligent, driven, and detail oriented. Pretty Obvious the guy cannot cut it at this level of Football!

The reason why Florida is in this mess in the first place is that they're so impatient with coaches. They fired both Mullen and McElwain a year after they won the SEC East and finished in the top 15. If they had a guy like Eliah Drinkwitz, he would have 100% been fired after three years instead of being given more time to build the program.

Agreed. Everyone wants an instant contender now and that’s just realistic in most cases.
Lots of good coaches get fired before they really have a chance to get things going

Got to get rid of the AD first. I think he gets through 2024 due to that.
With the schedule y'all have next season, doubt he will have a winning season. (UGA, LSU, Texas, Tenner, Ole Miss, UK, A&M, UCF, U, Fla St.)
3 seasons at Florida all with losing records, he doesn't get a 4th

I can think of one coach that did it recently.

Billy took over a cluster. If Fla fans think going through
coaches every 3 or 4 years is the way to go ,well Im glad
IM an LSU fan and we will beat yall every time we play.
It takes time to BUILD A PROGRAM not a team.Nick won a
NC at LSU in year 3 but in year 4 lost4 games. He wasnt finished getting enough talent 1-85 to sustain that sucess.
BN did a great job at ULL BUT IT TOOK HIM TIME.

Lane Kiffin took over an Ole Miss program that had not had a winning season in 5 years. By year 2 he finished 10-2. Mario Christobal took over an Oregon program that had fell into mediocrity. By his second season they were 12-2 Rose Bowl champs. Brian Kelly took over an LSU program that had gone .500 in the prior two seasons and played a bowl game with less than 40 scholarship players. He won the SEC West in year one and has a chance at a second straight 9 win season.
Barring an upset, Napier will likely have a losing season following a .500 season. Florida may not have been in at the place it was under Meyer or Spurrier when Napier took over, but it is a solid program with resources in maybe the most talent rich state in the country., To expect Napier to immediately compete for the SEC East with Georgia at its peak is/was foolish. But I think it was probably reasonable to think Florida could be competing for the 2nd spot in the East within two years.
The reality is they are not and there is nothing to suggest they are trending in the wrong direction. He will and should get year 3. But if he has another .500 or sub-.500 season it will be reasonable to question if he can get it done there?

If Lagway decommits, it’s over. He’s the recruit that’s holding the 2024 class together right now, and that class is literally the only positive thing Napier has going for him.
It seems like a lot of the folks on Swamp247 want Stricklin fired because they think he’s a clueless idiot when it comes to making coaching hires.

Did he take over a clusterfrick?
Florida was 10-3, 11-2, 8-4, and 5-6 in Mullen’s 4 years. Recruiting rankings were 14, 9, 9, and 12.
It’s not elite but I think the dumpster fire Napier supposedly inherited is really overblown. He also inherited the #3 pick in the draft at QB.

Wow. I didn’t realize that their roster was that good that he inherited

The recruiting rankings are a little suspect because a ton of guys never played and some never even made it on campus. There were also a ton of 4 stars with no P5 offers that he took. It was like he would wait until near signing day and take flyers on anyone who was rated 4* but not committed yet or was supposed to go to FAU.
Richardson was a freak athlete, but from Gainesville, so Mullen definitely doesn't deserve a ton of credit there. I am sure a local threw him a bag to stay close to home.

UFs team composite ranking on 247 was 14 last year and 15 this year. They have players. FSU was 17 and now 20, for comparison.
They should not be a sub .500 program in the days of portal and free transfers and yet they are.

UCF isn't a gimme either. Gus is 1-0 against Florida at UCF.
1-11 is on the table.

Brian Kelly (1st)
Jim McElwain (Back to Back)
Gus Malzahn (1st - Won Conference - Lost Natty in the final minute)
All SEC coaches to have done so in the last 10 years.

11 starters back on both sides of the ball. They’ll be fine.
