I saw it, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. It wasn't The Eternals bad. It wasn't Captain Marvel bad. They tried to humanize Carol Danvers and make her more likable. It wasn't great, but it was a lot better than I expected it to be.

The problem with Marvel when they aren't trying to win social justice points (and this didn't really try to do that), is that I don't know the point of some of the movies. This one really had no significant point to it. But, if you're looking for a way to spend an hour and a half, there are worse ways.

3 out of 5 stars. Watch in on Disney+ when it comes out, but it isn't terrible and probably doesn't deserve all the hate it is getting.

I wasn't trying to give a ringing endorsement, but the expectation here and elsewhere was that it was going to be in Howard the Duck territory when it came to Marvel movies and its actually a mid-tier MCU movie that you can tell they tried to fix and make better than it should have been, considering what they had to work with.

It was a stupid concept and we didn't need it. It didn't need to be made. But, it wasn't as awful as I expected. Brie Larson tried hard to save the character, I think. I left appreciated what they tried to do, at least. And, I can see where some might really like it.

This is all you really needed to say. Marvel is just making shite for the sake of making shite and satisfying their writing room's agenda.

It's terrible.

We gotta be close to setting a record for the amount of threads on the board for one movie.

Not even close. The Little Mermaid has this beat by a mile

Why would anyone fight you or why would you want anyone to fight you over an opinion about a movie? Congrats you saw and “it wasn’t terrible”. I think most people who spend their money on something, they want it to be good. Whether it is a something tangible or not. I for one when going to see a movie, I expect it to be good based on previews that I have seen. I don’t go to a movie where the previews and reviews are bad.

With all that said, the problem with Marvel is none of the movies and/or tv shows have any type of direction that connects them. They are halfway thru Phase 5 of 6 and none of the movies have that direct connection. In Phase 1, Marvel introduced Iron Man, Thor, and Capt America with their own backstory movies. They introduced Black Widow, Nick Fury, and Hawkeye in minor but key roles. Then at the end of Phase 1, they had the Avengers movie which brought them all together and pieced it well. The introduction of the villain and the main storyline which will culminate at the end of Phase 3.

None of that is coming close to being done here. I understand the multiverse direction to a point but having to watch TV series to watch a movie that is not good seems to be doing too much. The entertainment is not there. The quality is not there.

Loki season 1 and 2 have been great. WandaVision was nice. The rest have been mediocre or crappy. Marvel just needs to stop and wait a few years. Then comeback with a storyline that can be creative and entertaining.

Your post reads like "I just ate a cat turd sandwich and it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be"...

Speaking of cat turds, someone needs to tell Marvel that toxoplasmosis is not a super power.

Other than to promote girrrrl power… nope. Every male character was relegated to background status. Even Nick Fury. Who was once considered one of the bad asses of SHIELD.

This movie will be forgotten by the end of the week.

It was actually great! I liked it a lot, I told you guys I was gonna go support that movie. It would have gotten more buts in the seats if they made the super heroine sexier, this is a comic staple, sexy superheroine.

But they only have their own fault for how it turned out, but it was decent, no message of empowerment really. However because it was in a vaccum of nothing happening it was hurt badly.

Literally the exact opposite message Disney Marvel is going for. Especially with a female Director with a very limited résumé. Oh sure, they put Bree Larson in tight fitted crop top, but then they put race swapped Valkyrie in a business suit like she just walked off the set of MIB.

Reminder: Valkyrie was a fit, hot Nordic warrior with long flowing blonde hair.

Aren't you the one who was freaking out about Marvel comics doing some weird shite with Mary Jane, only for none of what you said was going to happen actually happened?

Apparently, Disney cares enough to change it. Funny how it never goes the other way though...

The difference is that I can see that changes to source material for nothing more than virtue signaling is self-defeating (if the idea is to entertain, instead of attempting to preach).
