The dude is in his 4th season with like 4 starts and a half vs the SEC champions.

He's never started a game at LSU.

He played in the 2nd half vs. Ole Miss in 2021 and played de facto starters snaps against Arkansas that same year. Last season he played significant snaps against Georgia in the SEC champ. game and split time with Daniels vs. Purdue.

He's not necessarily "green" given he has thrown 174 passes (to date) in his career. But outside of the Arkansas game in 2021 and last week, he hasn't played in a tight game (he came into the Ole Miss and Georgia games at points where LSU was getting blown out)

To the OPs point, there weren't a ton of games last year where the coaches could get him in for "meaningful snaps". Florida, Auburn, Ole Miss, Alabama, Arkansas, A&M were games that were close most of the way through.

Nuss will be fine

He's not young. But he's not terribly experienced either. Obviously he has the ability to make some plays downfield in the passing game. But there is still the concern his accuracy and decision making will be erratic

Well this is certainly a take . Holy fricking shite.

That’s correct you lose 3 games your going to a shitty meaningless bowl, you lose 6 games your going to a shitty meaningless bowl. Tell me the difference? I’d rather spend the last few games developing my teams depth for next year.

Looks like the rest of the season could now come down to a guy that has barely any real game experience with a defense that is nonexistent.

Sude the season ended with the Bama game. But, its working out perfectly for next year. Couldn’t ask for a better situation given the circumstances.

Agreed to both.

For BK's sake, he needs to develop these players in a hurry especially being so thin at CB

I'd rather not have a late season collapse that could cost you recruits, could cause players on your current roster to feel you quit on them and transfer, and have the fanbase calling for the heads of every coach.

This is a terrible fricking take. You play whoever you feel gives you the best chance to win. Period.

Nuss has shown flashes, but we really don’t know if he’s full time starter material.

He has been in the system for 3 years. His experiences are ample to be able to step in and have success. Hopefully JD5 is available, but if not he can be successful.

I’d play every inexperienced player we had the rest of the way to gain meaningful snaps . . . Obviously the guys we had playing didn’t get the job done during the season so I’d build on the future everyone should play the rest of the way.

This is an awful take and a loser one at that. There is a team right now that wants to compete and win games that believes that they have a lot left to play for—and they do. You don’t spurn the team at present to try and prepare for next season.

it really don’t matter losing 3 games is the same as losing 6 games

Again, another awful take. 10-3 is a helluva lot better than 6-6. How many LSU fans would love to have 10-win seasons at worst?

Exactly! Why are all of these fans coming out complaining now that nuss didn’t get enough playing time? He’s a backup…his job is to be as prepared as he can to come in when/if the time comes.

BK will do everything he can to get Jayden on the field because in his own words 10 wins is the goal. BK has always cared more about consistency than championships. In a world where you are looking to win it all you play the guys that are going to be around next year after a playoff birth is out of the picture. It's not like players don't quit the team to prepare for the NFL. If BK did prepare a little more for next season maybe we win an opener against a good opponent.

You trying to get a bunch of guys to transfer out? Because this sounds like a good way to get guys to transfer out.

I'm sure recruits will be lining up to play for guys who quit on their teams after a couple of losses.

These doofuses don't realize this is college football, not the NFL. You don't "play for next season" at the detriment of the current season.

I mean Nuss probably more experience than most backups do. He's started an SEC game. He came in the SECCG a year ago. Played the last quarter last game almost.

that works jsut doesn’t exist

because most teams don’t win a NC next year.

So when a coach is judged no one says “well he went 8-5 in 2023 but the experience helped us go 10-3 in 2024”

no one actually feels that way and no coach is judged that way

coaches don’t get fired for going 11-2 too many times without a championship

theh get fired for losing 6 games in a season.

if you wants shite seasons of trial and error surrounding a championship we could have kept O

It never ceases to amaze me the way some fans don't understand that there is an entire world of practice that happens. Practice is when he gets the experience that teaches him to be competent and good. Only once he he is good in practice, should he be put in meaningful games.

Practice with the #1’s is what’s important. Need to develop timing and line needs to get used to cadence, etc. Hopefully he gets enough of that this week if he’s the starter this weekend.

He plays quite well when he doesn’t try to “force it.” See the Georgia game last year and the Purdue game. As long as he doesn’t try to be JD, I think he will be fine.

I’m worried that the defense will put him in a position where he feels like he has to do too much. That’s on the coaching staff to keep him grounded
