Clever lyric you just noticed in songs you've heard many times

In "Those Shoes" by the Eagles
God knows you're lookin' good enough
But you're so smooth and the world's so rough
Not sure how I never caught that before. I must admit I don't listen to the Eagles all that often nowadays or for a while but I had the album The Long Run and that song was played a bit.
Do you guys have these experiences or am I the only one who periodically catches these things and wonders how I never heard that before?

Electric Angel Rock n Roller
I hear what your playin’
Sang along with this for 40 years without knowing what it actually said…not particularly clever though but interesting choice of words to put together

If it makes you feel better until this post I always thought the lyric was electric age old rock and roller.

Same. And I though it was “I hear what you’re sayin” … but there’s really no excuse for getting that line wrong

I always liked the swan song reference in Some Nights by Fun. The lyric goes:
so this is it?
I sold my soul for this?
Washed my hands of that for this?
I miss my mom and dad for this?
No, when I see stars, when I see-
When I see stars, that's all they are
When I hear songs
They sound like a swan, so come on
Oh come on, oh come on, oh come on
so this is it?
I sold my soul for this?
Washed my hands of that for this?
I miss my mom and dad for this?
No, when I see stars, when I see-
When I see stars, that's all they are
When I hear songs
They sound like a swan, so come on
Oh come on, oh come on, oh come on

Not sure how you missed that, but that's really one of my favorite Eagles songs.

I really love the middle verse of Hotel California
“Her mind is Tiffany twisted, shes got the Mercedes Bends” is an amazing fricking line.

Took me a long time to figure out one of the lines in Mountain's Mississippi Queen...
You know she was a dancer,
She moved better on wine
You know she was a dancer,
She moved better on wine

For some reason I never new this lyric until a few months ago... Although, to be honest, I never cared for the band or song enough to want to make an effort... but I have heard this song countless times over the years...
I specifically never knew the bolded part and while not clever, it just cracks me up now.. such a stupid lyric IMO..
REO Speedwagon - Keep on Lovin' You

You played dead
But you never bled
Instead, you laid still in the grass
All coiled up and hissin'

Billy Joel has a whole bunch of them through out his catalogue, such as Honesty, Captain Jack, The Stranger (song), Piano Man, Stiletto, etc.
Here's one from "The Entertainer":
"I am the entertainer
And I know just where I stand
Another serenader
And another long-haired band
Today I am your champion
I may have won your hearts
But I know the game, you'll forget my name
And I won't be here in another year
If I don't stay on the charts.
I am the entertainer
And I've had to pay my price
The things I did not know at first
I learned by doin' twice
Ah, but still they come to haunt me
Still they want their say
So I've learned to dance with a hand in my pants
Let 'em rub my neck and I write 'em a check
And they go their merry way.
I am the entertainer
Been all around the world
I've played all kinds of palaces
And laid all kinds of girls
I can't remember faces
I don't remember names
Ah, but what the hell? You know it's just as well
'Cause after a while and a thousand miles
It all becomes the same".

"I could never understand
The wind at all
Was like a ball of love
I could never never see
The cosmic sea
Was like a bumble bee
And when I'm sad...
I slide.
I have never never kissed
A car before
It's like a door
I have always always
Grown my own before
All schools are strange
And when I'm sad...
I slide.
The wind at all
Was like a ball of love
I could never never see
The cosmic sea
Was like a bumble bee
And when I'm sad...
I slide.
I have never never kissed
A car before
It's like a door
I have always always
Grown my own before
All schools are strange
And when I'm sad...
I slide.

In "Already Gone" by The Eagles:
" But I guess you felt like you had to set things right
Just remember this, my girl, when you look up in the sky
You can see the stars and still not see the light"

I thought he sang "all coiled up and innocent" until I was about 35 and I finally bought some good speakers. In fact, I don't even notice that rattlesnake effect on most systems. Good song for testing speakers.
