The bye week gave this board more time to become negative.

No doom & gloom here. I think we pull out a W in a close but hard fought game.

They scored 24 on Ark. They might get to 31 on us. We will go 45+

Alabama is averaging like 24 ppg against power 5 teams this year.

They are averaging 28.7 ppg against power 5 opponents this year (putting them at #35).
quote:

They average 5.5 yards per play which is 64th in the country.

They average 5.89 yards per play, 58th in FBS.
quote:

Alabama is only 11 spots higher than Auburn in offensive EPA. 81st in the country. This is a bad offensive football team.

My source has them at #62 in offensive EPA, Auburn at #73 (still 11 spots difference).

I’m not saying your conclusions are wrong, just thought it was odd that none of the stats seem to match any of my sources.

That said, I find most overall FBS rankings to be a little counterproductive for these discussions because they don’t account for competition. The thing that’s hard for me to reconcile is that Alabama is #18 in SP+ offense. While not stellar, that’s also not bad by any means. SP+ also has Mizzou’s offense at #20 though, which seems crazy to me. So maybe there’s some weird quirk influencing Connelly’s metrics.

My gut says Alabama’s offense is not as bad as some are making them out, but also not nearly as good as the other 3 ranked teams we’ve played. I expect they will try to run the ball a ton because A) that’s been their identity and B) LSU’s run defense has been putrid. Alabama is 11th (SEC) in yards per carry, but LSU is 13th in defensive yards per carry.

So I don’t know what the hell to think about this game.

We have a fricking pee-wee defense that let 2-6 Arkansas put up 31 points against us. Of course a lot of people on here aren't feeling good about Saturday

Bad comparison once you see how many points Arky put on Alabama

Tons of people on this board haven't watched Alabama play a snap of football this season and it's very obvious. LSU wins this one by 2+ scores

Nov. 15th 2003

The last time an LSU team beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa by 2 or more scores..

have you not watched our defense this year? It's truly one of the worst in the nation, and we've now lost our best D lineman.

Although Bama's offense isn't great this year, they still have elite athletes all over the field.

We're going to give up a lot of points, and will have to outscore them to win.

It's the same crap they did vs Auburn. I keep telling people that Bana won't score over 31. Doubtful they get in the 30s.

With the defense being such a liability. House has simply refused to bring pressure and every single team that has brought pressure against Bama has had good results when doing so.

Our CB who basically shutdown Burton last year limited him to 25 yards in man coverage is not playing due to coaches decision.

They did blowout the team that beat us. They aren’t the same offense that they were in the beginning of the year. They weren’t great against Arkansas but they did put up 27 on Tennessee d in the second half and they have a much better d than we do.

Bamas d is good so they should make a few stops

You do also understand our defense is closer to Mo State than a typical LSU defense. Sad, but true.,

If you think this will be close you're going to be disappointed.
