Pricewise?

The floor.

I like the idea of Tempurpedic but are those the ones that are split in half? My wife sleeps on my back and I don't know if she'd want to sleep on that split in the middle.

And she would go from changing one set of sheets to 2.

Having the king split is an option.

I have the Tempurpedic Luxe Breeze and it's about as good as the Serta iComfort I bought about 12 years ago. Since then the iComfort seems to have declined in quality. That cooling effect in the tempurpedic is so-so and dwindles considerably if you put on a mattress cover then a fitted sheet.

It's very soft in some areas, very firm in others. Not sure if related but I think the box it came in was split open and the mattress was partially expanded in the box.

I wanted to return in the day after we got it. It's been a very painful experience. And unfortunately my side of the mattress is the side that's screwed up.

The local retailer we got it from says that it's not their problem, so we have to go through the manufacturer which is a pain in the arse. They initially said to go through the retailer. I legitimately hate this mattress and I'm seriously leaning towards just getting a cheap one at Costco and swapping it out every few years.

We just bought a split king tempurpedic medium memory foam adjustable bed and mattress. It was expensive but my wife and I both think it is the best bed we have ever slept in.

Bought a Beautyrest earlier this year. The first night I slept on the couch bc it was so uncomfortable. Tried to return it the next day and was told I had to wait two weeks to give it a chance to break in. The manager told me to jump up and down on it or use my knees to break it in. Sure enough after a couple of weeks it was a totally different mattress. Glad I didn't return it.

Beautyrest Black for me.
Caught it 50% off at Sam's three years ago.
If it dips more than 1 inch in 10 years, full replacement.
Verified by two GMs of separate Sam's clubs.

But seriously....some of the mattress companies spend a fortune on marketing and skip on their manufacturing process. Most don't back their product.

Buy from reputable retailers only.

I'll just tell ya that no matter which one you choose, especially if it is a bed-in-a-box, don't get rid of your old, reliable mattress right away. Let that thing stand tackily leaned against the halwall wall for a few days at least. That way, when/if your box bed doesn't suit you, you can swap in the old reliable and get a decent night's sleep whilst trying to return the new one and pick another.

I've had a sleep number for about 13 years now. It's still in perfect condition and we sleep great. Spend the money, it's an important purchase.
