I don’t remember the opinion of the board,
but thinking about it last night, it seems like a dumb idea. A money grab by the owners. Who will give a shite about the tourney finals in Vegas? How about winning the actual NBA Championship.

I'm open-minded enough to wait until it plays out before bashing it on its surface.

I'm a big premier league (Chelsea) fan, and while their cup games don't bring on the excitement of a league match, it is still fun to watch your team compete and win.

Outside of the fact that I bet we would win our group, I couldn’t care less about this “tournament “.

IMO the NBA reg season is kinda boring and has no stakes until near the end so I kinda like the idea personally

I have no choice but to give it a chance. The Commish seems to have lost my number and I haven’t heard from him.

It's just something else for Vegas to collect bets with.

Some anonymous player already said they don't give a shite about it

Fortunately, the In Season tournament doesn't disqualify a team from doing this.

Everything is a money grab dude. Stop watching the NBA if this concerns. Heck, stop watching professional sports.

I like the idea of the tournament. The regular season is too damn long and some of these games count in the standings. I think it would be cool if MLB did something similar.

What is the idea of the tournament? Watching the reality show where Ryan Reynolds buys a down and out Welsh soccer team, they talked about the in season tournament and how with their tiered multi-league structure, you could have a lowest league team like Wrexham play and beat teams in the Premier league. A win like that could practically make a lower tier team's season.

I'm not sure of the benefit to the top tier teams getting the opportunities to lose to a team like Wrexham, other than money, but I see the benefit to the lower tier teams and the drama it creates for all fans. The NBA doesn't have this structure though. Do they plan to bring the GLeague teams into this tournament at some point?

How is it a money grab? Still an 82 game schedule. Stop being negative just to be negative.

The FA Cup brings just as much excitement as league matches, if not more.

The difference between the FA Cup and the NBA Cup is that the FA Cup includes thousands of team in its tournament so it's a completely different thing than playing the EPL season. The NBA Cup includes the same teams that you are already competing with in the regular season, so if you win it, what exactly are you winning.

It was always laughable when Adam Silver sold this thing as FA Cup equivalent because it is not even remotely like that at all. This is nothing more than a contrived money grab that means nothing in the grand scheme of things.

the downside is minimal and there’s a chance it could be fun. It’s not worth the effort to disparage let’s see how it goes

It's going to be random as hell since it's just single elimination, and that will make it fun. My whole point is, if you win it, do you hold a parade for it, hang a banner? No, of course not.

Even though the majority of games count towards the regular season, it just feels incredibly exhibition-y.

And again, Silver selling it as a european soccer equivalent was just wrong on so many levels.
