I feel like amateur armchair architects bitching about modern architectural choices (which are largely driven by the cost to build and return hurdles needed to finance said buildings) are a similar breed to folks who browse Zillow to criticize the design choices of houses they can’t afford.
The reason why most truly shocking architectural feats are religious buildings is specifically because money is less of an obstacle for those entities.

It’s often argued we can’t have beautiful buildings anymore because of cost. This is a work of art made of limestone and marble. It’s should be a crime for the modern crap built today.
