I have to say that ratio makes it look like it could be the best.

That's a marketing photo, the one you actually get has half that at best.

My favorite lately is the muffuletta from the Iverstine deli

I finally went there today. I was pleasantly surprised. It’s pretty good. Certainly the best in Baton Rouge, imo.

So most prefer warm? I've always liked Central Grocery and cold.

could not disagree more and in fact, the heat allows the most delectable flavors of the olive salad to be released, the toasty bread and seeds imparting a wonderful nuttiness and fragrance and the saltiness of the cured meats deserve a tinge of maillard reaction.

Agree 100%

Heated is the way to go

Ryan's in Hammond is my favorite but it's not traditional. It has roast beef and ham along with all the usual lunch meats that come on a muffuletta and it's heated.

Sounds good but adding ham and roast beef veers too far away from the traditional for me. The beauty of the sandwich is the saltiness of the meats and olive salad.

If you can't see that my post was written in the exhausting lyrical vein of the respondents threads, then you need to pay attention more.

Pocorello's closed? Did something happen to the owners? I loved that place.

I see Pokie often, saw him yesterday at CC’s Coffee.

So is this why they closed down the restaurant because she was sick?

Yes, she had been having health problems off and on. We had a Friday Lunch crew that was there every week. Good group of folks, talk LSU Sports, politics, anything that we could think of. Pokie and Vita would put up with us. Now on Fridays, we meet at Rocco’s Poboys. I saw Pokie at CC’s Coffee the other morning, he’s doing good. They are good folks, Pokie still hangs with Geno, of Geno’s Restaurant in BTR.
Pokie and Vita had a great bunch of products, the Muffuletta‘s, Meatballs, Italian Sausage, the Red sauce. During lent, Shrimp Pasta was my favorite.
I’m guessing Heaven must have a tomato sauce aroma right now!
RIP Vita.

That is the only place I can find one around here (SC) and it is a good sandwich, but I don't know how it compares to some of the non-chain muffs you guys can get in LA.

About 5-6 years ago, Jason's Deli offered a whole muff on their menu and it was only $12. It was a helluva a good deal. I suspect they were losing money on it so now they only sell quarter muffs.
