one of the most underrated movies out there.
no one talks about it and it doesn't have a wasted scene in three hours.
Incredible.

Wish we could have had a couple three sequels even half as good.

The sound production on it is spectacular. You need to watch it on a proper surround setup if you don't have one. It's absolutely stunning

The scene when they had to cut the rope to the mast so the boat wouldnt take on water is such a sad, but fantastic scene.

Hey this is a good movie
This board is so obsessed with it though it may have single handedly made the movie overrated

I really have to re-watch this film. I hated it the first time but after all the high praise here I have to give it another go.

It's a shame Russell Crowe is eating himself into a heart attack now.

I love the movie. Tried reading the books. It’s written like an old English classic. Couldn’t get through it
Wish we could have seen the sequels

It was part of Russell Crowe’s ridiculously impressive stretch of performances/movies.

It is more surprising it is so good because it is two a couple of novels mashed together.
Most of it is cobbled together from a book where the bad guy isn't French... but American. Which, given the Americans in the book aren't the most sympathetic characters for the most part, probably would have tanked it even more in the US.
The movie itself is damn near immaculate. Everything works exactly as it should. Acting, writing, directing, sound... nothing in the movie falls short.

For me, also...it's one of the few movies that I can watch over and over. The dialogue is fantastic and the attention to detail regarding British naval operations of the time is great.

It’s just so well done.
Can’t believe there wasn’t a sequel although that’s a good thing nowadays because Captain Jack would be “recast” as a fat black tranny.
