Sorry Philly fans, but if you like rugby, watch rugby.

I hate the play but I hate the idea of it getting banned even more.

What defense will be the first to get in a counter shove formation?

I disagree. It wasn't a legal play for years. Only legalized because Reggie Bush got away with it and it was a topic for years. This is why pushing was illegal.

Of course. As it stands now, defenses just get plowed asunder 100% of the time.

What bothers me about it is that it highlights the flaw with forward progress even further. The QB can be stalled and then the RB can come behind and push and they get those yards. If it was reversed and the dline pushed the QB backwards it doesn't count for shite.

This seems like a weird take. I love seeing the big piles fight for yards. It seems like they do it way more just in the middle of the field now at the end of plays - is that because the refs have started waiting to blow the whistle when forward progress is nominally stopped?

One of my favorites was Bama 2019 when half the LSU team pushed Clyde for extra yards.

Tush push is one of the gayest things I’ve ever heard.

And it never should have been legalized. Time to end that shite. Of course the rules committee is too worried about how to trim a few more plays out of the game to accommodate a few more commercials.

Not being allowed to push a player in a pile is dumb.

You can't pull a a ballcarrier but you can push one....

Know why 30 has his hands up? It would have been a penalty to push Starr into the endzone.

You could always push a pile. You could not push the runner which is what's being done now.

I'm legit curious - what is the argument against allowing football players to push football players?

It's a rugby play but it's not fair to the defense. In rugby, the ball carrier has to touch the ball down to the ground with control, not just cross the goalline. This limits the defense's ability to go all-in on stopping it, because if someone pops out the side it will be hard to keep them from crossing the line, but it wouldn't be hard necessarily to keep them from touching it down. Also, of course rugby doesn't allow a forward pass, which is another thing an offense could do as a fake out of this play.
It needs to be banned.

Yeah, it’s not innovative. It’s a bullshite play.

That said, you’re a fool if you don’t have it in your playbook while it’s still legal.
