Depression is kicking my arse

Most of you are familiar with my ongoing saga, so no need to rehash it. I’m hoping I can get some feedback, and jokes, from others who have battled severe depression.
I have a week off of work, and I find myself wanting to do nothing but sleep. I’m not sure how much of it is the meds, and how much is feeling depressed. I used to be a night owl, and now I can’t stay up past 10. This week, I’ll get 12-14 hours of sleep. I actually feel tired and sluggish. I see a new therapist next week, but that won’t help me for the next 7 days. I’m forcing myself to the gym tomorrow morning with a friend. Otherwise, I’ve struggled to find the motivation to do things I used to enjoy.
Yard work is an actual chore. I can barely read for 5 pages before bed. Late night movies don’t excite me. Dating apps haven’t yielded anything yet. A few drinks in the evening doesn’t sound fun.
I am seeing professionals, but not much seems to have helped. I guess I feel less like I miss her, and more like I miss a companion. I suppose that’s a tiny step in the right direction.

Go get your blood work done would be my advice. You sound just like a friend of mine, he got on TRT and the MFer is balls to the wall now.

Go outside. Even if your just reading. Find a gym. Be consistent. Make one night a week to leave your home and be social. Good luck

Per night?
That’s way too much. Unless you’re ill or recovering from something, anything more than 6-8 is unnecessary and will just make you sluggish.
That said, working out will help. Spend time with friends if you can, but exercise, not eating heavy meals, a healthy amount of sleep, and non-toxic social interaction will help. And if you’re religious, spend some time with your God.

What meds are you on? What's your diet like? Have you been tested for low T?

Drink plenty of water.
Eat right.
Get plenty of vitamin D/sunshine and vitamin K. (Eat salmon and eggs)
Exercise exercise exercise
Stay on your feet and don't lounge. Whatever you do keep walking and moving, make a step count goal each day (like 15,000 steps).

A mindset that has always helped me is keeping in mind everything comes and goes. It has to get worse before things become better. There is no better without going through the pain. It will eventually end.
Set a singular achievable goal and work towards that, let it be your north star. Even if you are absolutely failing at everything else in your life, do your best to reach that singular goal. Then set another. Your goal can be as simple as just brushing your teeth twice a day. You’ll form a positive habit you won’t even have to give any thought to.
Embrace the pain. Part of the human experience is feeling every emotion.

In addition to my advice above, forcing yourself to get out of bed, showering, and getting ready for the day (even if you have nowhere to be) can completely change your outlook on the day and yourself.
If you look in the mirror and see a guy that’s been in his pajamas all day and hasn’t shaved or washed his hair and groomed himself, then you will think you’re that guy.

I do know something that will make you feel better. Helping others. Go volunteer somewhere. Habitat for humanity or something like that. It will be the best you have felt in a long time.

Quit taking those chemicals they give you and get some natural supplements that your body is probably not producing as much of as you age.

Get off the dating apps. My mood was considerably worse using them.
You do need to probably spend more time outside, even if it's just reading. Knowing I had to prevent myself from becoming a shut it, I specifically moved next to an outdoor shopping mall, with parks I could walk to. The amount of time I spend on this board is directly proportional to if it's too hot to sit outside and read a book.
You think you're depressed, I had to go to the park to watch other people's kids having fun, as I unexpectedly was, since I only got to see my kids about every six weeks (they live five miles away.) That was a complete kick in the nuts that I endured for almost six months.
Something else that may help is using a counseling app like Talkspace to get more frequent and convenient appointments. It's also easier to dump a therapist that isn't working.

Bad combo for someone in your shoes
Start your days with a long walk or some form of exercise. Put on a podcast or music you like.
It will give you energy and make you feel accomplished.
Plan out some activities while you are off, even if it is just lunch at your favorite place. Or go to a coffee shop and do a crossword puzzle while you finish your coffee. Go to a museum or a sporting event. The stimulation might be good for you.
