if LSU's defense gets torched again and we lose? House will be gone by Sunday.

Does anyone think a mid season firing is the answer?
That looks terrible from all angles. If he is to be let go, it will be at the end of the season.

I don't think there is any chance that Matt House gets canned before the end of the season. Regardless of how bad the defense is. Honestly, that is right call because who would want to come here & work for Brian Kelly if he canned a guy midway though the season.

LOL. What DC will come here after going 10-2 their first year and then get fired after 6 games. NONE! The football IQ here is weak. I'm hoping Coach Pete can get the Dline playing at at least an average level. Coming off the ball too high. Not getting off blocks. Lining up off the LOS.DE crashing inside. Not playing JJ the majority of snaps. All of this is somewhat fixable. We shall see Saturday but I am expecting a better showing.

Yes, If the defense is that bad. After ole miss, we have historically never been that bad. Unless we see major improvements, I don’t know why you keep him in.

Oh no... we're bad at defense... let's fire the one guy that's capable of making us better!!

How would it get better firing him? People are already talking shite about our recruiting class and firing a coach mid season would definitely hurt that. Continually firing coaches is what got us in the position we are in now. Chill the frick out.

Probably several people.
1. LSU would be willing to pay a large salary for the job
2. Coaches know the resources and athletes are here to allow the coach to perform well and, thus, be looked at for a HC job.
I don't think Kelly would fire House mid-season. But I don't think it would have any effect on the next hire whatsoever. Potential candidates would understand why he was fired when he was. This was a top 5 team with a top 5 offense. A team that only needs an average defense. Yet, the current DC has them as one of the worst units in the country.
What would the potential candidate be afraid of? "OMG! If I field one of the worst defenses in the nation and sink an otherwise good team the HC might fire me?" I think EVERY DC would probably agree a change would be necessary if that were the case

Pretty simple, no one worth a damn is going to come here if you’re firing a coach 6 games in. We still have to build a class to improve this defense… if you think house is bad, which one of his assistants do you want taking the interim tag?

What good could that do? Please explain. This is Kelly's baby. His staff, his players for better or worse. If LSU cannot get very good players from the portal, they will suffer accordingly.

Who went 10-2 their first year? LSU went 9-3 in the regular season, then went 1-1 in the post season, for a 10-4 overall record.

I expect him to be canned after championship weekend

If it's another shite show, the coaching search will start that way he can be let go at the end of the season and a new coach slides in right at the beginning of the off season to get things in place.

Who’s the DC candidate that is currently an analyst? Why couldn’t he come now

For one to have a reputation of "complex defense" they must master the building blocks. I imagine House could implement a much simpler defense pretty easily if they thought they needed too.
No matter the scheme, undisciplined, poor fundamentals will always look bad. That blame must be shared by the player.

Which of the remaining gems on the defensive staff would you replace him with? It does no good to do that now. He won’t be returning anyway.

I agree. You can only coach so much. But with great coaches, you see improvement. I haven’t seen any so far. The same mistakes are still being made every week.
And if guys can’t tackle, why are we even signing players like that? Getting veteran guys from Marshall and UL is dumb imo. Id rather play freshman who are more capable of learning and developing.

So you’d rather continue to trend downwards with the same defensive scheme and game plan? If we struggle against mizzou and aub, two teams we should beat handily then yes I’d say fire him. Maybe our defense gets worse with someone new but it could also get much better. If we don’t make major adjustments and continue to trend down it doesn’t help. New coach will help recruits as well because it’s not like house is reeling in defensive recruits left and right

On the bright side, Jenkins is widely regarded as one of, if not the best, ever at those things.
