They don’t have to play a series against the Royals, so yeah Astros take it again this year.

Don't forget, they also have home field disadvantage in the ALDS. Can they win a game at home to get to the ALCS?

I think this will probably be how it shakes out. Would love to see the Astros win it as a fan. They can get streaky and if all the parts and pieces are at 100%, they can play with anyone, but don't see it holding through the playoffs. And the O's and Braves just seem like the best teams in the respective leagues this year with an edge to the Braves.

Heart says Braves, but historically the best team hardly ever wins since the playoffs expanded to the divisional series and the wild card series has made that even more unlikely. Saw a stat the other day where the team that has clinched a playoff spot first has not made it past the divisional series in the last six full seasons (2020 excluded).

I feel like the AL is wide arse open with every team besides the Orioles severely flawed and the Orioles are a bunch of babies who will be experiencing playoff pressure for the first time. Meanwhile on the NL side, I feel like the only three teams that have a shot are the Braves, Phillies, Dodgers (in that order) because every other offense on that side of the bracket is trash.

With all that said, it'll probably be the Orioles beating the Brewers in 6 or some weird shite like that.

For those that want to shite on the media for being wrong, Tom Verducci picked the Phillies over Astros and Mike Cameron picked Braves over Orioles on MLBN, while Jeff Passan picked Braves over Rays and Xavier Scruggs picked Dodgers over Astros on ESPN.

I kind of feel like the Braves are in the phase where they are similar to the peak Dodgers, who only won it once (or 0 times for those who don't count the COVID season for whatever reason).

The offense will absolutely crush bad pitching, but in the playoffs the competition level increases. Those Dodgers always had good pitching themselves, but I feel like injuries/slumps nagged that staff and kind of has the Braves staff too at times. I think this Braves bullpen would be one of the worst bullpens on any of those Dodger teams, if not the worst.

Now on the flip side, none of those Dodger offenses were as good as this Braves' offense is. The Braves may give up 7 per game in the playoffs but score 10 per and it not matter.

None of those picks are out of the realm of possibility.

I personally liked Mike Cameron's pick the best. He grew up a Braves fan FWIW, he's from LaGrange,GA.

The Braves killed good pitchers this year, also.

I'm probably in the minority but I don't think the Braves pen is that bad.

I think the main problem is the pen can be inconsistent and the starters are inconsistent. However it seems like most teams have this issue.

Personally I think the rangers and jays will beat the rays and twins. I see the jays went from +100 to -120 on my book.
