Coasts Del Mar’s Poor Quality

It seem like the last few pairs I have bought just didn’t hold up like they did a couple years ago.
What have y’all switched to? I need another pair and I am wondering if there are better options without spending $300 on sunglasses that I can work in. I have been wearing the Brines for the last 8-10 years it seems.

I switched to Smith Optics and Bajio. I like them both.

Bajio is the former original guys from Costa. I guess their non-compete's ended. Costa is owned by Luxotica and that why their warranty terms and quality aren't the same. I moved to Maui Jims

Bajio offers readers...bifocal high performance sunglasses. Ima get me a pair the next time I need new sunglasses. Have worn Costs for about 20 years but I am done with them.
Edit - Readers only available in poly lenses...can't do that. Won't last a week offshore. Even when Costas were good their plastic lenses wouldn't last on an offshore boat...

When they got bought out I assumed they'd go downhill. Luxotica sucks.

I'm done with Costas. Tired of sending them back to get new frames because the rubber pieces fall off. Just superglued the nose piece back on my current pair, and when they are done I'll be switching brands after a long faithful run

I went to Bajios and like them a lot.

I literally went through the hassle just now trying to file a warranty claim for a pair I've had for many years. I have one other pair to send back. Done with them after this. Will be checking out Bajio next.

Auto correct. I meant Coasta obviously.

Same here. I remember buying my 1st pair around 2004-2005 in high school.

Team Smith with techlite glass lens, better glass than the 580.
Better warranty and customer service, prostaff discount is great and getting on it was easy. SteepandCheap has huge discounts periodically.

I have a pair of Smiths and I like them. I have had issues with the lenses falling out of the frame or breaking very easy. They do not offer lense replacement and they usually only offer a 30-40% discount for purchase on a new pair if you submit a warranty claim. I've continued to purchase new pairs with the discount but I'm probably at the end of the road and will look for a more durable product next time.

I been saying Costas suck for over a decade but all I get are DVs. Go with Maui Jims.

I got a free pair of Bajios from a dealer meeting I went to. Out of the 8 pairs of sunglasses I own, these are my new favorites. Quality is definitely better than new Costas.

2 of my favorite brands, Costa and Justin boots, have gone to complete shite past couple years

I gave up on Costas and expensive sunglasses a while back. Bought a pair of Sunclouds for dirt cheap and do the job just fine.

Call customer service and tell them what’s happening, other than dropping a pair overboard mine have been solid. Try the glass lens.

It's the glass lenses I have problem with. They seem to be much more brittle than other brands. I had a pair of "Dockside" that one of the lenses fell out on. I've had another pair where the lense spider web cracked after they got bumped off a table onto a wooden floor.
