I only planted my cowpeas and did that just in one section.
Will head back soon and plant the rest

Should have planted, missed my chance.

No way to predict this. It had been debatable if any rain would fall from this.
Glad I planted 40 acres last weekend wish I could have gotten all 120.
Going to drill tomorrow afternoon and hopefully still cash in on the moisture.

Anyone near the Port Gibson area? We’ve had 1” inch of rain since July 14th. Got a 1/4 inch today. We’ve spread lime on all of our plots but can’t disc it in. No rain in the forecast and models don’t show any rain through Oct. 27th. Have no idea when we are going to plant.

The lime won’t help until another 3-4 months anyway so you’re good

Da Hammer and I are both near Port Gibson. Did we only get 1/4 inch? I'm looking at one map that says we got 1/4 and another map that says we got a full inch. It basically drizzled with occasional showers for about 8 hours. I'm just curious how much actual rain reached the ground.
I have a logger working in a creek bottom at the foot of a big hill. Like 600 yards straight up. He said he was able to work until about 2 pm until it was too slick to get log trucks up the hill.
We planted over the past 10 days or so. Maybe this will be enough???

I’m in Lorman and my gauge has just a little over .25 inches

We are right off of 548 in Hermanville. In laws live there. 1/4” rain is what we got by us.

I am guessing Adams/Concordia got almost .40 yesterday, and 40% chance for Friday.
The tractor is idling for planting Saturday if dry enough, yea that sounds funny "dry enough". Thinking Sunday will be the day if it sprinkles friday.

Update on my cowpeas planted Sunday.
We got a solid rain this past Wednesday. All was looking well until last night when hogs came through. I knew they were in the area but hadn’t had pictures of them in over a year.
They stayed in the plot for about 4 hours heads to the ground. I’m assuming all my planted pleas are now gone. Bought some another bag of bluffs seed to replace.
Gah damn I hate hogs

All pigs must die.
Sorry for your loss

I planted 7 ac of Fall Release on Tuesday, got .2” of rain on Wednesday. Drilled it in with a no-till drill. Game cams reporting lots of game movement this week, but the pigs are all over it. I HATE PIGS!!! On the positive side, my fall food plots have done well in the past when unmolested by pigs, even laying in dry powder for a few weeks. Rain comes and they sprout. I’m the eternal optimist.

Worried I have planted some too deep chasing moisture. It seems like that is always the case with me when a rain isn’t expected.
No rain- I’m good
Light .25”-1”- I’m good
Downpour that drops 1”- I might be fricked on some fields.
Good news is that I already have some sprouting that I planted last Sunday, and they will probably be up by Monday or Tuesday. (Green Cover seed)
Crimson clover is already about 1/4-1/2” tall from last year.
Vetch is still going strong and is blooming. Not sure if it Joint Vetch is indeterminate or not. I know I have seen it bloom before, but I can’t remember if it stopped growing or not. Do any of y’all know?

I went ahead and planted everything I had today. Tilled the soil back up and it still had a lot of moisture from the rain this past week.
Compacted it all in really good after. Let’s see if the hogs leave this along and head for the corn I put out elsewhere
