I'm planting in Winn and Jackson parishes tomorrow. Maybe get some rain next week.

I’m in Winn a little east of you. We are roughly 20 inches behind annual rainfall averages. It’s terrible.

If it makes you feel better, there is zero rain in sight on my forecast. About to just drill in my seed and see if the morning dew can get something up. Jeez

I had to plant last weekend. I waited and waited, ran out of time.

Planted Friday. Ground had plenty of moisture, but birds may get all my seed before we get another rain in Osyka.

Yea I planted in Summit this past weekend. Not looking promising for any rain until maybe next weekend.

Just going to roll with it. May have plots by January

No signs of rain anytime soon in Port Gibson. It’ll be early November before we plant. Long range models show little to no rain through the rest of October.

I planted at home yesterday and planting in woodville on Friday. There’s some rain in the forecast next week. We shall see.

At this rate I’ll be planting mid November

Which apparently is ok in our area. People around us aren’t freaking out

Serious question. Does a heavy fog like this morning and dew help at all?

Yes Dew point matters and helps. What did you plant?

We planted Oct 5th and got 8/10s of an inch one week later. We spend a bunch of money on fertilizer/lime/chopping/dragging all our food plots.
If you spill seed in the limestone at the porch you will have a nice stand of grass.

I feel like it’s actually the worst possible conditions. These foggy humid mornings could actually be enough to germinate the seed. But that spells disaster right now in SW MS. It’ll dry up as a tiny newborn plant in no time unless we get some rain in at most 10 days.

My camp is in SW Mississippi and mid-November is my plan too; the only change is that I will plant Elbon rye instead of wheat. It has to rain at some point .... right?

Do I know you?

If you are even a little east of me, then you are in Caldwell Parish.

I'm in the same area. And we use no-till for half our plots so rain is beaucoup important. I've had $800 worth of seed sitting in my garage for a month now. Food plot planning can oftentimes be stressful, but this is the craziest year I've seen. If we get a hard frost in mid to late November there will be a bunch of food pots that never come up. The deer and other wildlife are getting stressed this year for sure.

I’m right there with you Early Bird. I’m starting to get worried about the rats eating my seed in the barn

Disced, planted, and fertilized last weekend (10/21) in Prentiss. Hoping for some rain also.
