I thought this interactive map was neat showing drought condition stats for each parish. Bottom line: 89.8% of our state is either in D3 or D4 drought conditions. Pray for rain!

Just another Louisiana Summer nothing to see here.

On the other hand, I've seen a few winter forecasts giving us a cool, wet winter thanks to El Nino. Hopefully enough rain to rid us of this drought and fill our bayous again

Driving through "exceptional drought" area and it's green throughout.

So most of the state is in D3.5?
Heatmap makers probably shouldn't be colorblind...

I’m on the young side, but this is the driest summer I can remember.
We really do need some rain.

How does it just stop raining west of the Sabine and east of the Mississippi?
ETA: I see now it’s just that LA is brighter than surrounding states.

Just one reference point in Louisiana.
New Orleans International Airport since January 01 has only recorded 23.67 inches of rainfall. This is just 47.6 % of normal through September 21.
The deficit for MSY is ( - 26.09 inches ) for the year.

Is this select or non-select parishes?

My exceptionally drought yard is green. We will be fine. We live in a subtropical climate. An exceptional drought is really bad for places that aren’t subtropical. For us, it just means less bugs, less mold, and less grass cutting.
Side note: the switch grass around my live oak is having trouble coming back from its bi-annual trimming. The 3 spider orchids that usually get hammered by the switch grass are doing great.

I’ll never again bitch about how thick/tall my grass gets in the summertime if it means I’ll get 10” of rain over the next ten weeks.
