Daniels throws a beautiful deep ball. That’s why I’ve been so damn frustrated at his reluctancy to do so

I like jayden daniels as a qb.

I will say a qb should be able to hit those throws all day.

Agreed.

But Jesse Palmer made a great point when he said it’s hard to have that kind of completion percentage in 7 on 7, much less a full pad game with defenders coming at you.

I’ve regularly complained about Daniels not throwing deep and letting our guys try to make a play, but he was sensational on Saturday.

I hope it carries over to the rest of the games.

If it doesn’t we probably lose a couple more. But I sure as hell hope this is the new Jayden Daniels.

kelly/denbrock have finally got to him about throwing deep.

also if you noticed, it backed off the defense so the running backs had lanes to run. crazy how that works.

JD has looked great the last two games. The flack he is catching is from the FSU game where most of those metrics were probably 0. I am optimistic that he will keep it up as we go forward.

My take is if I made a list of the reasons we lost to FSU, Daniels would be No. 5 on that list if not lower.

I've seen narratives picking apart his throws vs. Grambling too and saying well, they really weren't good throws it was just Grambling, yada-yada.

I think they will have a tougher time picking apart his throws vs. State, but I'm sure some will try.

Lmao. Yes. Putting up zero points until the very end is never a problem. Jd can do no wrong.

LMAO - Coaching decisions both specific and general were much, much more the issue in that first game. And not sure where you get the idea JD can do no wrong from anything I posted.

Being fifth on the list is still on the list.

He was a deep throw machine his freshman year. Something happened mentally between his sophomore season and last year. Arizona St was a shite show while he was there. This is his first time having stable quality coaching. They are trying to mentally fix Jayden Daniels .

Our OL was deceptively good in pass protection against FSU. He abandoned good pockets that he still had time in. They weren't pretty pockets but we blocked very well most of the time.

Its a good start to the season for him. Look for him to continue to have a good year and continue taking the shots down field when the play dictates it.

Many said "he is what he is at this point," "he's had 4 years in college already so don't expect anything different," etc.

It must be painful for you.

You can't criticize Daniels' decision making.

You can't criticize Daniels' passing frequency.

You can't criticize Daniels' accuracy.

You can't criticize Daniels for this week.

You can't criticize Daniels for last week.

You have to look for posts about the first week of the season to pour your poison.

I almost pity you.

I have been in the minority JD5 support camp.
However, a couple of his TD's were shorter throws than I'd like to see. Against a team with good DB's niether TD would have happened.

No one thought that. The thinking was...

JD wouldn’t throw the deep ball!

BTW, 8 of 11 with 5 TDs and no interceptions is not a good thing. It is a sign that he is leaving a lot on the table. I would much prefer 13 of 22 with 8 TDs and 1 interception. That's a stat line that shows we are maximizing the risk/reward on long balls.
