Yeah, as someone who has been loyal to Delta to the point of picking them even when they're more expensive this sucks.

People are pissed about these changes, to the point they're turning into free agents and going elsewhere. Flyer talk has a bunch of threads on this. Agree that there were probably too many diamond medallions, but whatever this change is was not the right way to go about it

Yes. I don’t disagree that some changes needed to be made, but this seems like an extreme course correction.

My delta Amex platinum just renewed 2 months ago.

It's typically been worth it to me for the companion ticket with the cost of flights, but it's gotten increasingly hard to find a flight on the days I want.

They messed up with Covid rollover for sure. They should have just ended the rollover and been done with it. I use my Delta reserve card for most of my business purchases and spend about $275,000 a year on it. Called AMEX today to see if I can convert my card into something that just offers cash back and they said to wait because with so many people wanting to change over since the announcement this morning, they can't process those request. Delta is rumored to have made about 8 billion dollars just from their partnership with AMEX this past year. That is almost pure profit. They have really messed up. They think people will spend more on their card to reach these unattainable levels? Most will be moving on to another card with better benefits. The companion pass was already getting almost impossible to redeem. Trued using one of mine for a trip ATL to SEA in May of 2024 and there was one flight to choose from that departs ATL at 10pm.

I’m going to keep my Amex Card because it allows me access to Centurion Clubs which I prefer over Delta Sky Clubs anyway. If Centurion Clubs change then I will change.

I thought about this too. Having Centurion access is nice, but there are so few of them that you’d have to frequent those limited number of airports on a frequent basis for it to be worth it.

I agree. I connect through Dallas mostly and there is one there.

Just called Amex. They have clearly gotten a lot of calls about it because they had a full script prepared... not blaming them, I used to work the phones so I know how it goes. They offered 15k miles to keep it, which I declined. I did accept offer to keep Platinum until renewal and then downgrade to Gold. The free bag is worth that, but that extra 100 is not. All in all, good service as usual with Amex and none of this is their fault

I'll be downgrading for sure, not sure if I'll go to Blue and then apply for Gold for the bonus or not. My card renewed in July so I have some time to see what changes they make due to backlash.

My Companion Pass seems worthless as I can't find any west coast trips for the dates I have available.

While being on TD cuts the population to heavy Delta folks (in the SE), I don't get the blind arse loyalty most of the board has. Many of you don't have a choice, but that does not mean the crap sandwich you're eating is any good.

Star Alliance? Sure. I know the difference between Turkish, Air Canada, Lufthansa, and United. Delta is a nonstop stream of ground stops in ATL, and stinky PAX in MSP. Air France? Lol. I know United picked up Scott Kirby (F U American,) but I feel as though we're the least shitty of the major American airlines, for the moment.

Domestically, Delta is the crown jewel of air travel in the US, and I'll admit that even if my soon-to-be Gold card requires yearly water-boardings. If I'm flying in America, Delta is always going to be the one I look to first.

Fwiw I don't even live in the Southeast- it's widespread sentiment.

International, I will branch out a bit. United has far superior routes and mileage redemption.

You're proving my point. Sentiment is not data. La Guardia vs Newark vs JFK? Holy hell, that's a Satan's threesome of shite, and to have EWR be the least shitty means you've gone wrong in life. Delta flew me in and out of both LGA and EWR repeatedly.

Delta did nothing good, except fly ridiculously overpowered MD90s that planted me in my seat when we took off.

When was the last time you flew into LGA? It’s a nice airport now that they finished the renovations, and the new Sky Club there is the nicest one in the country.

The Delta terminal at LGA is one of the best in the country now, and the sky club IS the nicest one.

At least they give you a nice spot to enjoy the delays and flight cancellations now

I think the big question to ask is how much is that experience of a few cheese cubes, a leather chair, and a beer worth? I've found all I have to do is find an empty gate area with an outlet, put in some headphones, and I'm good to go until the flight. Better than dealing with the 'Do you know who I am?' people in the skyclubs imo. In Atlanta I go to a hidden part of terminal E, JFK one of the middle B gates, Detroit by A56 if there's no international flights, MSP the high G gates, etc.

United approved my status match instantly, so looking at them for future flights. Since New Orleans is my primary hub u don't need loyalty.

Came here to see opinions on Delta changes. The emails reads like Delta is taking excellent care of me with this new program. I fly for work and Delta is my best option for consistent flight options and I like my AMEX for the access to Sky Club the free food is okay I really don’t drink the booze but I like the access to the agents in the lounge when my flights are delayed or canceled. The hoards in the clubs remind be of locust invasions on crops!
