I’ve been strictly loyal to Delta over the years for the perks of status and skyclub access. These changes all but eliminate that. I guess I’ll be choosing the cheapest option not named Spirit or Frontier beginning in 2025. frick you Delta.

LINK

Beginning on Feb. 1, 2025, Delta will limit how many times you can visit a Sky Club in each program year, as follows.

The Platinum Card® from American Express: six annual visits
The Business Platinum Card® from American Express: six annual visits
Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card: 10 annual visits (two annual guest passes will still be provided)
Delta SkyMiles® Reserve Business American Express Card: 10 annual visits

Over the last few years, I've been gravitating towards United because of their generous (in comparison to Delta) mileage program and this basically solidifies it. Cancelling my Amex tomorrow. You can buy a United Club membership cheaper than you can buy the lowest tier that'll get you into the Sky Club

All of this is merely an Atlanta problem anyway. DTW and LGA are always empty

We will be doing the same. Canceling the Amex and beginning to build loyalty with United.

Frustrating - Delta has been investing in lots of new lounges and are far and away my preferred airline.

y’all are canceling credit cards because you can’t sit in an airport bar? Are there strippers in these bars?

Before making any quick decisions, give it some time to see if AA or United make any changes to their programs as well before switching everything over.

The MQD for Silver rising to $6k is a no-go for me as a leisure traveler. I'll be taking the most direct nonstop flights instead of pledging allegiance to a single airline. I think Delta screwed up with this decision but it's their business

Is there something I’m missing for business travelers that fly all the time? Or does this only affect CC holders that fly infrequently?

Delta and partner flights: Earn 1 MQD per $1 spent on the ticket price for a Delta-marketed flight operated by Delta or by a partner airline.
Flights booked and ticketed by eligible partners will earn MQDs at the same rate as they do today, based on the fare class purchased and distance flown.
Credit cards: Delta SkyMiles Reserve American Express and Reserve Business Card Members earn 1 MQD for every $10 spent. Delta SkyMiles Platinum and Platinum Business American Express Card Members earn 1 MQD for every $20 spent. There is no limit to how many MQDs you can earn from credit card spending.
Car rentals: Earn 1 MQD per $1 spent on completed car rentals booked through Delta direct channels.
Hotel stays: Earn 1 MQD per $1 spent on completed stays booked through Delta direct channels.
Delta Vacations: Earn 1 MQD per $1 spent on the entire vacation experience, in addition to what you earn for your flight, when booking directly with Delta Vacations.

MQD Requirements by Status Level for 2025 Status:
Silver: 6,000 MQDs
Gold: 12,000 MQDs
Platinum: 18,000 MQDs
Diamond: 35,000 MQDs
Your Existing MQMs:
Convert to MQD at 20:1
Convert to redeemable SkyMiles at 2:1
Rollover:
Gone after 2023.
Million Miler Status
Beginning in January 2024, Million Miler status will go to BIS miles flown only.

There definitely is a strong need to thin out the crowds. But this seems excessive.

Essentially they raised MQD values, no more rollovers, MQMs are getting converted to MQDs at a terrible rate, and there's a bunch of credit card changes

They’re too dumb to realize the overcrowding is for rolling over Covid perks. I have never seen so many diamond medallion members in my life, and that shite is hard to get.

United could start by actually flying as scheduled. I’m at MSY right now this is the second consecutive morning flight they’ve cancelled or delayed on me an hour before departure

I've had platinum for 3 years now and I definitely don't deserve it. I have 9 MQS/$1238 MQS this year. I have a shitton of rollover MQMs and was just spending 25k a year on my card to get the waiver. I know I'm their target audience with this change to make status mean something but I was a Delta loyalist. I'd always search flights on the app first and would only consider other options if the price or times were completely unreasonable.

I moved from a Delta hub to a place that has more competition so I'll feel free to shop around more. Probably cancelling my amex unless I get an awesome retention offer in November.

Even the skyclub change is a kick in the nuts. I had the DL Platinum card where you can get in for $50. I'd do it once or twice a year if I had like a 3 hour layover or delay on a layover.

Overall, the issue is that the credit card fees do not equal the benefits anymore. There is still the companion certificate, but they've basically gutted that by rolling out basic economy and it's now only marginally cheaper to even use the companion ticket

Sucks for those who are in Delta hubs, but for 99% of the world you should fly the cheapest, most direct flight anyway. They have such limited routing out of MSY that I struggled to even use up credits from April 2020 cancellations and perks are much easier to obtain from AA & SW.

Can those 6 Platinum uses be used for a guest? That'd be nice for wife to join without paying $50 since it's limited use anyway.

Yea saw this today. I have a delta amex platinum. This change basically nukes the majority of the benefits.

Basically ridding the spend bonuses. At the conversion of $20 to 1 MQD, you're looking at $120,000 in card spend to reach just silver status. Plus won't have the option for paid access to the lounge.

Basically a $250 annual fee for baggage check and a meh companion certificate.

I get that these changes, I'm probably the target audience. But they'll definitely kill their credit card base for these mid tier cards.

I think they are banking on people that got a taste of "status" with all of the rollover the last couple years just blindly accepting these changes.

I would guess not since it is currently not allowed. I did see that if you have over 75K annual spend on the personal or business Platinum Amex, Skyclub access remains unchanged.

That's the same amount Amex put on Centurion Club guest access.

For those like myself who fly frequently enough, the biggest draw of having an Amex platinum is lounge access. Why am I spending $700ish/year on a credit card when the biggest perk is being taken away?

I have other cards with much cheaper fees that get me things like global entry, clear, etc. the Amex was well worth the fee because pretty much anywhere I flew I got free food and drinks. That shite adds up if you’re sitting at a normal airport bar.

Yeah, as someone who has been loyal to Delta to the point of picking them even when they're more expensive this sucks. I don't fly for work and only for pleasure so I'll max out at around 5 trips a year. Now I know I won't be able to hit status and my Delta Amex Platinum Card is not worth it. Time to be a free agent.
