Um.... According to this list from last year, Dutchtown was ranked 19th in the state including private schools.
There are no private/parochial schools on that list.

In order to earn the new "Equity Honoree" designation, students in various subgroups must perform at high levels. Of all Louisiana schools, Dutchtown High's economically disadvantaged students performed better than 91 percent, students of color performed better than 95 percent, and students with disabilities performed better than 91 percent, the release said.

The area that they're losing is Hwy 42 going towards Port Vincent. I expect the scores to increase

For better or for worse, the redrawing of district lines is going to make Dutchtown High School more diverse.

My daughter left Dutchtown and went to SJA. She was taking AP and honors classes at Dtown. They were comparable to the regular classes at SJA so it is very possible to get a good education at a public school. You just have to take the right classes.

Funny how all the schools regardless of rank graduate 95% of their students.

More like smart people feeling good about making smart decisions.
Ascension Parish has the highest household income in the state and Dutchtown is on par with or better than the most private schools in the area.

Why do the college readiness scores drop off a Cliff after the top 6 listed?

This is correct. Dutchtown is a good school but public schools don’t really compare to most private schools.

Blows me away how many people discount/have no clue about the holistic education of the person that Catholic/private schools provide.
It's my opinion that holistic education is 100x more important than straight academics anyways. Public schools are a primary reason why our society is currently so lost.

There's a reason they don't compare these scores to private schools.

LOL at the fact you can't dispute either of the points that I made.

Not all private schools are parochial.
Nor do all parochial/private schools provide a superior education.
I kind of do have a clue being that I attended both parochial and non-church affiliated private schools as a child.
I'm not discounting the value of either.
You however do seem to be discounting the value of a non-holistic education.

That's awesome. We are so happy Timmy got education to help him with his identity. Did he reconnect with his community through his mind, body,& soul ?

The ironic thing about this statement is that, while you mock this, it's the root of what ails our world right now. Public schools won't fix this. It does/should start in the home, but Christian schools go a long way in helping reinforce this for families who are lacking. No need to "reconnect" when you have been developed properly all along.

I would be interested to hear about the (little v)alue of non-holistic education.
