Driving from Metairie to the North Shore today, and noticed a much wider area of water on the east side of the causeway about 3 miles from the South Shore. A ton of birds diving, fish crashing, and they are all in that lighter colored water. Also noticed a larger shrimp boat trawling nearby.

Any idea what that activity might be?

Yeah I see that all the time but never fish it.

I also saw it at the Mandeville pier the other day but had already committed to Venice. I should've stayed on the Northshore.

Saw the same thing coming back to the south shore this afternoon. I’m thinking it was a school of Jacksw after mullet in that area. Nothing to eat, but it sure would be fun on top water baits

I noticed the same thing in the same area around 5 when I was heading home yesterday. Something had the bottom turned up, and the birds were diving.

Birds work behind trawlers 24/7.

A couple of weeks ago, one of my nephews fished the birds btwn Hwy 11 an I 10 bridges. Turns out it was a large school of redfish. They released some bulls, but they kept two limits of “keepers.”
