Tennessee blew our doors off last year…..

And the team responded with the best three game stretch that we’ve seen in Baton Rouge for many years aside from 2019.
Yes it was a very disappointing display that exposed real flaws in both our offensive and defensive approach as well as holes that remain on our roster and lack of depth.
But we’ve already seen this staff has the ability to identify and address weaknesses and build on even the toughest of lessons, which is what great coaches do.
It’s also worth acknowledging that FSU is just really damn good and Norvell has this program looking like the new power in the ACC. As soon as Verse decided to come back I had a feeling that this was going to end up being one of if not the most problematic matchup we’d have all season.
But win or lose the SEC schedule was set up very nicely for another run to Atlanta, and that is still the case. Two get right games before another tough matchup against Arkansas us exactly what this team and staff, not to mention fanbase, need right now.
That’s when we’ll see exactly what this team is made of.

We also blew the Tennessee game the same way. Going for it on 4th instead of taking the 3.

You won’t change their mind

Well we also went for the kill shot on Bama and it worked so…

You think getting 3 points would have made up for that second half beat down? Hell, even if we had scored on both of the red zone trips that we whiffed on we would've still been beaten.

Not kicking field goals didn’t cost LSU the game. You could argue the play calls in both situations were atrocious but it’s not like 6 points would have the difference.

This loss looked totally different than Tenn. Against Tenn the fumbles doomed us early and we still fought. Against FSU they quit because of the futility at the QB position

You think that decision “blew the game”??

It became clear many years ago that those that bring up a coach’s salary when criticizing them are the LCD of fanbases, so thanks for outing yourself

And the team last year won the West and the Citrus Bowl. Not the SEC and no playoff. Good first year result, but that’s not what you want from $10m a year. If empirical evidence suggests that’s what a blowout gets you, it’s not good enough.

The same exact problems that we had last year seem to be plaguing us again this year. Except we’ve added the fact that we can’t fricking guard anyone.

I would love it to happen again. But I don't think we have the coaching to do it. The worst part of Sunday's blow out was the complete and utter failure at just simple coaching. From choosing to go for 4th downs to not making adjustments to not trying anything different. Coaching was an all time low. And it should never be that way when we're paying that much.
I could write it off as nerves or being new. But this is all their 2nd year here. And the effort they put in was abysmal. Even continuing to try to run the ball out of the end zone on kickoffs was glaringly stupid. I don't know what they can do differently now.

We blew the Tenner game last year because we dropped a punt, let them score, and the whole team collapsed.

It was simply disgusting.

OT is different in that you eventually have to go for 2. So going early is not the same as chasing points when you are not losing the game and squandering red zone attempts.

We did not blow either game by going for it on 4th down. So many things went wrong in that Tennessee game just like a lot of things went wrong in the FSU game. We got beat by a better team and were out coached just flush it and move on.

another Kelly apologist.

Sports are about momentum and raising level of performance. Kelly coaches with no positive emotion and he doesn’t even get as mad as he used to.
What we have seen the last few years is a team that comes out flat for the most part with very little emotion and that comes from the top.
This version of Kelly is closer to an 8-4 coach than a 12-0 coach. O’s recruits are going and not being replaced with adequate talent. BJ Ojulari was missed big time Sunday.
