I saw a few gallon jugs of this stuff in a supermarket earlier today. Does anyone here have any experience with it? The internet tells me its sweet. Is it also smokey or spicy?

Which BBQ sauce are you asking about?

I always make my own

No sir, I don't. I didn't purchase this item, but it made me curious. I stopped by Google, and the lady at the desk said it was only sold by the gallon. That made me wonder why there was shelf space dedicated to it in New Roads, LA.

We have a small, maybe 20’ section, in our local grocery store dedicated to large items like this…it’s always the strangest stuff, but I can’t help go look at it. Like giant jars of red hot sausages or huge mustard containers. It’s one of those “this is our cost…everything in the store is 10% higher when you ring it up because that’s our margin”. Dumb as hell, but that’s their model at Froogles.

That's where this was. The #10 cans of common vegetables are there. My son was wowed by the gallon jug of black pepper.

I've been told that I've had this Blue Plate sauce in a lot of places. Still not worth buying that quantity.

It’s really good, you would be surprised to know that a lot of the top places in Texas use it.

Must be something to this. Some kind of incentive for smaller places to have this section.

Maybe a grocer will read this and chime in.

Never heard of it. Don't recall seeing it in HEB.

"Texas Style" would not normally be associated with sweet.

I have numerous jars of best maid pickled products, and have been to the best maid pickle emporium in Ft Worth, but have not seen or tried their bbq sauce.

They make quality products though, so I would suspect it is good.

Odd choice to put an Asian child on the label.

That sauce was great. I usally use the Franklin sauce recipe but this was a great substitute when I didn't.

I grew up on Blue Plate BBQ Sauce. It was only when I bought a gallon off Amazon, that I realized it was a concentrate. We ate it as just a tangy bbq sauce without knowing to dilute it.

The dill pickle chips are the best. Have to order by the gallon from Amazon, can’t get them here in Alabama
