As others have pointed out, they’ll scream Chicken Little and the day will ultimately “be saved”.

But if it weren’t, would we out here in the great unwashed Flyover hinterlands really even notice?

What exactly do they even really do anymore?

The gov't shuts down for the most part every weekend and holiday. We need to trim the gov't 15% across the board.

There will be a CR, but the interesting thing is that the deal passed last contains automatic across-the-board cuts starting in December if funding continues via CR. House Republicans can force cuts by passing a CR that goes beyond December. Then, the Dems in the Senate will be on the hook for shutting the government down if they don't pass the CR.

Unlike the Covid “we’re all in this together” shutdown of the private sector where those dumbasses that don’t work for the government just lost their jobs.

More like 50% or more.

Unfortunately Beto or worse!

Much worse. Ken Paxton intends to run. (His trial to be removed from office only extends to state and local races; he can't be barred from running for Federal office.)

If Paxton unseats Cornyn, Beto or whoever the Dems put up will win in a landslide because most of the GOP base will sit it out.

I love how all these MAGAts pretend to be deficit hawks when their cult leader says it's sacrilegious to touch social security.

Guess what all you numbnuts - you're not trimming the debt unless you address entitlements.

This seems to happen pretty frequently. They'll shut it down for a couple weeks and then come to some resolution.

One among many signs that our political system is broken.

Federal government shutdowns don’t really mean shutdowns. It’s “non essential” departments that are shutdown and the people that work in those nonessential departments are probably hoping for shutdowns. It’s a paid vacation for them because they get back pay every time once the government opens.

Another unacknowledged fact, trump was very pro quantitative easing and wanted bigger handouts during Covid.

House Freedom Caucus can leverage this against an impeachment inquiry since McCarthy lacks the testicular fortitude.

Amen brother! The Senate needs another 40 to 50 Mike Lee’s and Rand Paul’s.
