I wish Netflix would do a Cobra Kai like series for Varsity Blues.

Also, they went 9-1 and won the district title, but say it was the last time they played. What happened to the playoffs?

It’s Hook and LATERAL, not Ladder - a common eggcorn.

Lance Harbor had the absolute worst throwing motion of any top 10 qb I’ve ever seen.

Actually if you think about it, it’s kind of sad he only won 2 state titles in 22 years if he was winning district titles and getting a one seed every single year.

It’s one of those movies you shouldn’t try to sort out the details like that. Mostly because it’s not the point of the movie, so better to just enjoy it

The only thing Mox was right about was that it would have been good for them to incorporate some spread concepts into Kilmer's ancient arse offense.

Of course just pulling shite out of his arse in practice like that wasn't the right way to do it so even when Mox was right he was still wrong.

I agree, it’s a Hook pattern with a lateral - so Hook and Lateral.

But hook and ladder is part of the common football lexicon.

Hell yes. Amazing idea

Especially since this movie hits different if you view Mox as the villain.

I’d imagine if it’s revealed your coach has been systematically playing loose with the meds for decades, your team is probably done for the year.

It’s called hook and ladder by the announcers who didn’t know any better and viewers assumed that is what it was called.

Already posted but my idea for a sequel:

Mox is now a professor at Brown. Mostly lost touch with the West Cannan crew. Still keeps up with Lance via text. Lance has had quite the run as the head coach of the Coyotes.

One night, Mox gets a call from Jules. Her brother and Billy Bob were killed in a car wreck on the way home from a coaching clinic. Mox has to return to West Cannan to pay his respects.

- Darcy is now a teacher at the high school and distraught over losing her husband. Lance’s son Jon is a sophomore on the team
- Tweeter is now sheriff and dealing with the same shenanigans he used to put on the cops back in the day
- Wendel has had a long a successful career in the NFL
- Jules stayed after Johnny left and they drifted apart. She runs a bar in town.

Mox is asked by now Principal Davis to stay and coach the Coyotes. He has to make peace with his past while guiding a new generation of players.

He eventually crosses paths with Kilmer, now preacher at Cannan Baptist Church. Kilmer and he make peace eventually.

That is the greatest idea ever.

Kilmer went into hiding and found a coaching job decades later at a small school in back woods Kentucky, or something similar, Moxon relocates for work to said town and his son is an all star at QB but has to play for Kilmer if he wishes to play football

If Kilmer had ran 5 wide back then with Lance, they would have been slaughtering teams
