Running out of open timberland to burn. The threat to homes is at its greatest point right now.

I see. You are talking about those pastures ? Is that where you are ?
There’s a lot left to burn.
I’m looking South and Southwest of Hwy 110. Looks like it could burn a good ways.
Solid trees.

You know nothing of Beauregard Parish if you think this is true.

It jumped a main road they were trying to kill eastward progression last night. They ordered big evacuation and supposedly ordered all fire departments out. There was an army of civilians that showed up soon with several dozers and tractors and about have it contained again for now. Crazy
Things got hairy for people to the east of the fires last night going towards DeRidder... Lots and lots of people tried to get in with equipment but were turned around and threatened to be arrested, some brave citizens cut through yards and neighborhoods and were able to cut enough trees and push enough dirt to spare several homes overnight.

frick whoever sent home the fire fighters. Thank God for the civilians who rallied together and got it done themselves.

Winds NW today DeRidder will have to be on guard hopefully they can continue to build enough fire lanes away from the town

It has become somewhat of a shite show since the state has taken over... Locals are becoming frustrated and starting to question the decisions being made. Lots of people calling for help all over my Facebook feed last night and people sharing stories of how roads are being blocked preventing anyone from helping.

That must of been what prompted the DeRidder mayor to make those comments last night about do what you have to do to protect yourself and your neighbors

Imagine that, big government shitting down its leg. State officials must have directed admins to bury the story. Hence no sticky.

I don’t blame relief workers joking around some in a big situation like this - anyone who’s ever worked something of a huge magnitude like this understands the mentality- sometimes you gotta joke to get through it, it’s a coping mechanism

Absolutely not, and I don't think that was the intention of that guys post...
Lots of posts of all this equipment that has been brought in the last two days but has just been parked.
There has been an amazing outpouring of help from all different directions, and I don't claim to have the answers, it's an unprecedented situation. I was just pointed out that there were people who felt the decisions made last night were essentially to let their properties burn down and the state would do what it needed to do this morning.

When the state gets involved in these disasters whether it’s Hurricanes or Wildfires there can be way to much red tape/bureaucratic BS and sadly this seems to be the case with this. At the end of the of the day the local know the land the best they should be able to do what they can

That's Misty Clanton the Mayor of DeRidder. No need to black out her name. She made the post public

Trying desperately to keep up with the situation, I have family and friends between Ragley & Longville. I’ll keep bumping thread if I have to. And thanks for all the posters with inside info. Praying for SWLA

My uncle has 200 acres next to his mom/my grandmother's 200 acres in Grabow. I just called to see if he needed help and he said he was already out with a few tractors discing up land and cutting the fields really short. Said they were ready and not waiting on anyone to save them. He is surrounded by timberland but said it was all control burned last year so not a lot of fuel on the forest floor but tree tops are prime for burning.
He's not leaving and thinks they will be OK. I think he's right. His house and my grandmother's house are in the middle of pasture land though they do both have large oaks around. He has a lot of equipment to cut his own lanes or build berms.
