For those who have Facebook, the lives that are usually done during these type fires are usually pretty helpful. It would definitely be worth the listen. Some stuff that doesn't get conveyed in official releases can get talked about.

He more or less said what I said earlier. They can’t put it out. It’s going to burn till it runs out of fuel.

Pretty much how it goes in timber like that. 65% containment ain't terrible compared to how they measure. They've done a good job so far protecting property considering there are strung out towns in every direction of the main area the fire is burning. They can't let it run much in any direction before it threatens structures.

The sheriff needs to tell people what Mayor Vic Schiro of New Orleans said for Hurricane Betsy.

Some good news, but also a lot of bad news concerning the weather for the next few days.

Today has a possibility of pop up rain and showers, but again, these will be accompanied by lightning and gusty wind, especially from outflows that could come from any direction.

More of the same Monday, but a “cool” front will be moving through late in the day and evening. Again, rain is likely but also accompanied by lightning and wind.

The rain chances diminish by Wednesday. The humidity levels will be lower, and Idalia in the eastern Gulf will increase northerly winds blowing even drier air into the area.

Summary:
Rain and slightly cooler temps on the way, but also lightning, gusty winds, and lower humidity that could cause more fires, flare-ups, and complicate on efforts to contain existing fires.

Video is from a construction yard of some kind. Looks like some land clearing has been going on.

Yea. I called it in to weatlake PD. Coming over I-210 you could see the smoke real well looking north...

They said they didn't have anything.

Well, 10 minutes later I drove over there and FD was pulling up.

There's a shitload of smoke.
West of Sasol/lyondell.

I'd love to see that rain they talked about in the earlier thread show up

I'm just north of 210 and Lake Street in LC and the Air quality has gone to shite in the past couple hours. This explains it

That's from something else I think.

We drive through a bunch of smoke after church that seemed to be coming from the NE.

At the bridge it cleared up fine. Coming over and into westlake it got worse.
