shite, at least I think I can pronounce this one, that's not so with most towns in the state of Louisiana.

fricking I-owe-way.....still gets me and I know how it is supposed to be pronounced.

I'm just hoping y'all didn't dicker with the obvious pronunciation of Merryville.

My grandfather grew up out there. They had a small farm east of town I think. The house is long gone but I would bet that land is close to the fire.

Did they kick em out of the state because they didn't know how to pronounce it?

My sister lives outside of Merryville and I just spoke to my mom about it after I saw this thread. It is not mandatory yet. They have multiple dozers working making fire lanes trying to pinch the fire off.

A friend of mine that lives Southeast of the fire not far from Hwy 27 just posted this on FB

The fire appears to be Southeast of Merryville and close to Singer along Hwy 110 and Hwy 27. The school and the bulk of Merryville is right on Hwy 110.

There is nothing but timberland all around that area

THANKS for the head's up!

Notified my Deaf friends in Merryville.

That tiny place was excited to get a Dollar General. Had a larger population in 1920 than 2020.

Winds generally out of the SSE at ~5-7mph. It is good that they aren't getting much outflow wind off of TS Harold now.

I just saw that and edited. I had second-hand info on that.

That whole area is thousands and thousands of acres of timberland. Any sort of additional wind push would be devastating.
